My new R1...finally

Arrived at work today to hear news that we were about to take delivery of 2x 2009 R1's, not only that but they were to be $2,000 cheaper than initially expected... $24k not $26k.
Obviously despite acquiring the Superduke R a week and a half ago, I had to score the new black R1 :done:
Have only done 130 odd kms on her tonight but FFS...daaaaaaaaaaaaaaang!
Plans have already hatched for blingage and I'll throw up some pic's tomorrow :sunny:

Im sure it will be ready for its first service by Monday, sticking with our rule, New bike must have 1,000km service within 7 days of purchase ;)

Saw my first 09 R1 in the flesh today ( was previously undecided if I liked its looks from photos and vids I had seen ) but it is horny...and everyone at the dealership who has had a ride on it at the track it is still saying "wow" they cant believe the difference to previous models, (yes, some may say that they would say that as they are selling it) but you can tell they meant every word and by the silly expressions on their faces while talking about the ride.
Sounds like a fantastic bike.

As an all round road bike...the R1, and this is coming from a guy that LOVED his 1098S.
In saying that I'm thinking that Ohlins are going to have to make their appearance sooner than later but then again I've been a bit spoilt when it comes to good suspension etc of late.
With the new Two Bro's cans it has really woken her up a bit and that noise...FFS...oral porn!!
Only problem is finding manufacturers that have actually produced some after market blingage for my R1. I'm not so good at waiting for stuff :mellow:

All in all I have to say that it's the best all round bike I have ever owned :sunny:

The 14 is on the keep it till we kill it then rebuilt to whatever we like list. There is no point selling the 14, I dont want to realise the depreciation, and next year I can affort to add another bike to the garage. The R1 is also a keeper we believe, and the zx6r is in the garage to stay too. All three bikes are awesome in their own right, now we just want to add to what we have, which we will do next year.

TBH it's a hard one for me to comment on as I've run it in in an assertive manner. 1st set of tyres lasted less than 1500kms :pinch:
What I do know is that it's a shit load cheaper on gas than what the 1098S was :wacko:
I'm off on a week long tiki tour next week and was hoping to take the R1 but it looks like the ZX14 may be a better option as I've just thrown some SC1 and SC2 tyres on the R1 which would last all of 1000kms
