I wonder in how many "accidents" the people who cause them (in the dying moments - possibly literally) think "fuck, this is dangerous and I shouldn't be doing this"

The trick is to have that thought before anything goes wrong and back off the throttle.

I'm glad I didn't have a big bike when I was younger.

That's nasty,...but you never get the full story from a newspaper,...just the sensational take on things. Without knowing how is happened, it's hard to judge. But who the fuck lets a seven year old cycle on a State Highway ?! :argh:

Taking the life of a 7 year old girl !

Many more lives destroyed.

I would never recover from that and certainly would not ride a bike again.

Anyone see the thing tonight on the mid-life crisis suicide bikers?

Just because it was a state highway, doesn't mean to say it was "open road".

I don't know of many 7 year olds that fully understand all the road rules.....

Nor do all motorcyclists know where 7 year old cyclists are intending to put themselves in the road...

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. SH46 passes through Tokaanu about there so it could easily have been right outside the kid's home, or between her place and her best friend's or whatever.

On the one hand we're saying, "don't wrap your kids in cotton wool! Let them climb trees and ride skateboards!" On the other hand, when a 7-year-old gets killed when she's riding her bike home from school or wherever, we say, "what was she doing on the road?"

Poor kid. Poor family. Poor motorcyclist. Terrible outcome for everyone. :(

Yeah - another media beat up. Huge amount of misinformation in there, bloody typical!
The only high point was our very own KB tv star, Crasherfromwayback
