View Full Version : I type too slow for KB

Yes, its bloody frustrating, but when I was a lad, you wrote your letter on a bit of paper, and the pretty girl in the typing office fixed all your mistakes, and typed it for you. And she went to the movies with you on Saturday and life was good.
Now we have computers. And the pretty girl in the typing pool is no more.
Instead a gorilla called Gordon who calls himself the IT DUDE makes me type my own letters.
And then I try to print them over a $20,000 computer network to a printer we all share, as it saved spending $100 on a printer just for me.
But anyway, it means I type with 1 or maybe 2 fingers (same way as I wave.)
And by the time I have written a bloody post on KB, I have been automatically logged out for inactivity, and my post goes to binary heaven. Or hell.
Can I change the inactivity log out setting ? Help Gordon.

Firstly.........click 'remember me' when you login, that may help a little.
Secondly....if you automatically logout whilst typing a reply when you 'send'....click the 'back arrow', it will take you back to what you have typed. Copy it, re-login and paste it.....

All good advice.
Otherwise, if you know you're going to type a long ramble, do it in something like 'notepad' then copy and paste it into KB when you're ready to go.

Gawd - I have one of those too!

Yep this too - in fact way back when I used to write long posts on KB this was my workaround - now I just just write short posts full of tripe....:niceone:

This has happened to me a couple of times, but although I have to login again my post DOES get sent. I'm not sure why mine would make it while yours go to binary hell?

When you figure out what a tab is, leave a page loaded in another tab and reload it and login, and then swap to the tab with the posting and submit it. ;)

This is what I do, except I use Microsoft Word so I benefit from the spelling and grammar check too.

Yep, for a long rant use the notepad. There are so many way that your carefully typed out scorn can be blasted into null-space when trying to post just using your internet browser.

Nah word aye.
No dont use word as it sometimes tries to bring in formatting and can stuff up the post. Use notepad or Wordpad.

You should use something like Word or Notepad to create the information and then copy and paste it into the final destination. That way you will not be disappointed and f@#$ off.

I suggest using notepad then copying and pasting into KB.
But don't use Word because it can bring in unwanted formatting.
Hope that helps.
