Was up in Auckland dropping the parents at the airport so i figured i would head on over to Rider Skills while im up that way and get this damned BHS test out of the way. The day started off cloudy and nice and cool although by the time i got to the test at 2:30 it was scorching hot and i was ready to die in my jersey!

Met the instructors (Phil and Ian) who were extremely nice (even if they were more interested in the air show than us :bleh:) and the young Indian chap who was learning with me. Hopped on the bikes to start learning and first thing i notice was these things are slightly heavier than my pushbike! :shit: (it was a GN125 and you know how big those things are ) Getting started was easy although turning is something a bit different! First off they pushed us as we turned and i almost fell off while the other guy had no problems. Great i thought, im going to be the one lagging behind here. But as we went through and learnt everything it all got natural pretty quick and i didnt have major problems with anything while the other bloke couldn't quite get his braking done properly (who needs them anyway:msn-wink:)

After what must have been around an hour of learning the basics of riding and doing the test exercises we practiced what we would be doing in the test in order. I managed to do it all fine except i stalled when setting off after the routine stop and i left my indicator on when exiting the riding the curve part. Those errors gave me 3 points (maximum of 4 allowed) but no worries i would do better in the actual test right? Phil comes along and says "right you can take that as a pass unless you want to do it again?" Well these poor blokes have been standing around doing this all day so i thought i would spare them having to stand any longer and took my certificate since those 3 points don't seem to mean a damn thing anyway! The other guy passed fine as well so we were two happy guys leaving that place. Phil and Ian are excellent instructors and i would have to recommend Rider Skills to everyone they really do make the whole process incredibly easy.

All thats left now is the scratchie test and a bloody bike! Does anyone know if these are the actual questions in the test? http://www.drivinginstructor.co.nz/test.php?q_category=Motor%20Cycle

nice work man. that bhs can seem daunting before you do it. those questions are pretty much it. there may be more to choose from but theres only 35 they actually choose. most of which are common sense

Just did the scratch and win test and i won! 100% correct although thats not hard as its so easy it should be illegal

Had a quick look around the dealers and most dont seem to sell 250's (although i didnt look very hard) and dealers are too expensive for me anyway so who wants to sell me a 250!?!?
