any vfrian's out there, has anyone changed the size of the rear tyre ie a 180? if so any issues?. The only problem I can see is the centre stand but that's geting bined soon and a left side exhaust, Is there any reason a 180 or more couldnt be fited? would a 5mm spacer do the trick or would that open a new can of worms?

instreted in any usefull reply's thanks
model is a rc36:laugh:

Check the rim size first - the numbers will be stamped on it. It needs to be wide enough to run a 180 section or the profile will not end up correct.

If the rim size is suitable going to a 180 from a 170 will slow down the stearing slightly - ie the turn in will require a wee bit more effort - how much? - not much.

I had a GS1200ss - they came stock with a 170 (rim suitable for a 180) - I have also ridden ones with 180's - I did not notice any difference.

The other thing to watch aside from width clearance is clearance at the front of the tyre - is it tight against the swingarm or hugger (if it has one) - remember tyres expand a bit when hot and rolling at 160!
