I got home to find one of the baycorp slips saying I need to contact them urgently. Ive had this before. It means they want my license.
Now a year ago, I got pulled over, I was already over my demerits, but the cop took the license first, then shoveled a load of points onto my license when I got it back.
Well after a clean year, I got a minor speeding ticket (123 in a 100), and the cop told me at the time that I should be careful from then on as that ticket would put me on 90...
Do I have any comeback on that? I was comepletely unawares...

He took the licence for the 100 points or more that you already accumulated.
He gave you more points then, for the effort which brought attention to yourself... after the taking of the licence for which you owed your licence to Baycorp already...
It aint rocket science. Tickets come at 11 kms over. 123 is easy pickings... Slow down, perhaps?

Yeah Yeah im aware of that. If you were familiar with my past escapades you'd see that me having a clean year is an epic achievement.
Im not disputing any of the tickets, just that the cop saying on the last one that id end up on 90 (theyd done a radio check) and now it seems that is false. Thats what my beef is.

You got a beef! No you havent. You are a slow learner looking for an escape route and you know its a fair cop no matter what was said at the time.
Do the crime..do the time and think about how often you got away with it before. (Might even save your life or someone elses)

you got nothing mate, 3 months on the leather sole express.
But you will have a clean slate after the 3 months :dodge:
the key is to pay the ticket early and get the points added before you hand over the licence.

Not quite.
The two years starts from the date of the first ticket & then re sets.
Essentially its three tickets inside two years (starting from the date of the first) & its pony express time.
the key is to pay the ticket early and get the points added before you hand over the licence.
As soon as they are paid, guilt is assumed & the points go on.
You not got a radar Morcs? Sounds like its long over due if not :msn-wink:

Not quite
They become "Inactive"
Which aint quite the same thing
They just stop counting towards losing your licence
They are still there, they dont go away,

Probably because he calculated that the bits he was adding on to what you were already on, might have added up to 90. Then his math might have been shite. Then there might have been other tickets coming through, that have caught up to the total...
Tank says it best. Slow learner..?

lets say you have 150 demerit points, a cop pulls you over and realises you are over. he takes your licence.
3 months later you get your licence back, minus the OLDEST 100 demerit points. The balance remain on your licence for a period of 2 years from when you received them.
so essentially you are fucked.
Although, a friend of mine got out of this in his car, he knew he had accrued about 190 demerits. He had just moved, and didnt leave a forwarding address. so when the guy came round to pick up his licence, whoops, dont know where he lives. So he stayed out of trouble, not getting pulled over or arrested for a couple years, next time he gets pulled over, 2 years has passed, and most of his demerits had lapsed, and the cop said nope, you only have 30 demerits recorded against you, have a nice day, and he carried on
