Last night (monday) some lowlife scumbags broke into my place and stole kids motorbikes, Quads, pushbikes and my trail bikes. They were stolen from a locked secure yard. To get to the bikes they cut through 2 chain link gates at the school a 2.4 m high chain link fence topped with barbed wire and a (unfortunately turned off) alarmed perimiter fence hooked up to a 3000v electric fence . They were pushed through the edge of the local school
I know its a long shot but if anybody noticed anything suspicious around the Bruce Mclaren road/Bruce Mclaren school school area Id apreciate hesaring from you.
Also if offered a Yellow/black Suzuki LT50
A yellow ,JR50,
BlueYamaha pw50
A 1997 Kawasaki KX125 with a purple seat

Terrible to hear about this Tony. The fact that you've been hit before suggests that it's not likely to be the last time unfortunately, and the bastards who do this kind of thing have no concern whatsoever for the victim(s) only their own selfish "gain".

Don't know what can realistically be done other than having something like a shipping container to keep them housed in. Dogs are not much chop as (apart from the barking, which lots of people ignore anyway) a bit of sedative or poison- laced meat will take care of them.

Theiving scum who take stuff like yours are not likely to be opportunistic, it will have been planned so apart from storing the bikes out of sight (yes, even if the arseholes might have an educated guess as to what's inside the big container) might be a plan. ?.

p.s. meant to add it's such a bugger that any security measures that end up being taken to protect your possessions are often expensive, adding insult to injury.

24th March 2009, 12:27
Oh bugger! Not again.
I would have thought your yard was nice and secure with all of the fences.
You may have to ask the previous owner for some of the toys, that were kept in the "dungeon room", when you moved in...

Oh no Frosty! :(

What a nasty thing to do - and especially to someone who goes out of his way to help everyone else!

My eyes will be peeled. If you hear in the news about a high-speed chase involving a Volty and some kids' trail bikes you'll know I'm onto them.

Sorry PB, butt having worked at a shipping company, I can tell you that shipping containers are a lot less secure than you evidently think.

At the end of the day, the doors are often sealed with just a padlock or chain/padlock combination.

If you hear in the news about a high-speed chase involving a Volty......

...it's probably downhill, with a tailwind...... or misreported.

Keep an eye on TM Frosty, they may come up for sale shortly....

Plus, were I you, I'd take a different yard vehicle on a "test drive" around the neighbourhood every evening to see what you can see.

I wonder if it's worth offering a reward to the local schoolkids to see what they know...............

Tony, I got pictures of all the bikes that were on the paddock in November. There were a fair few other photo's in that thread as well. So if the bikes were around then you should be able to pick up the pics.

Too true - you work hard and buy something that you really love, then you worry that it looks so nice that some fucktard will be envious and steal it. It saddens me that you always have to think twice about spending your money on anything that may gain unwanted attention. I wish more police resources were directed to catching thieves!

But when the coppers do catch them, the courts just slap them on the wrist with a wet bus ticket.

Bring back the stocks, says I.

Yeah, well punishment is another issue, but when I was burgled there was almost no effort by police to catch the offenders and therefore their punishment was exactly nothing!

Priority 1 - catch and convict these arseholes.
Priority 2 - make the punishment fit the crime (stealing a man's ride = death penalty).

Um strictly hypothetical question.
If a person was robbed and had a 3000volt lekky fence clearly sighnposted with DANGER electric fence round their property -150mm INSIDE a 2.4m boundry fence
SAY if that person was able to wind the whole deal up to say about 15000 volts. If they woke up and found a krispy kritter hanging off the fence would they be responsible for clean up of said krispy kritter?
Um just er wondering

one lil lad went to the loo for a pee. Forgot to rearm the alarm /fence

A little bit of a silver lining.
Just thought I'd update on this scummy event.
A couple of bits of good news came out of this.
First being that my Car Yard insurance now specifically covers all motorbikes for sale on the yard provided I keep frame numbers of all trail bikes.
AND The bloody wonderfull folk at STATE insurance accepted that the kids bikes were stolen from my home after visiting and seeing we do indeed actually live here.
Special thanks go to Oldskool for supplying clear pictures of my kids on their 50cc bikes and Scott411 from (MR MOTORCYCLES)for providing valuations for me.
End result. --insurance payout was enough to get a cheap tard me quad for maddy and a honda 50 for crash bandycute.
To cap it off a really generous person who asked to remain nameless sold me a KX125 so we are back in business riding as a family again.
PS--William is now sleeping with his KX85 in his bedroom and an arm draped over it

The insurance side of matters is now sorted out thank you.
Trouble was that I hadn't updated the yard insurance to include trail bikes it quite specifically covered cars.

Oh man what a suck thing to have happen. Its a shame its against the law to torture bike thieves. I got in the shiv a few years ago for wiring my car alarm via a massive coil through flat exposed copper under the door handles so it was pumping a good voltage when it was armed.

Guy tried my door handles (gee I wonder why) and got a bloody good bolt. Then had the cheek to go to the police. He dropped his charge after the old bill looked into his story of why he was doing that to my car but the coppers gave me a rather good ticking off regarding that modification.

We had 3 Suzuki DR200's and a trailer go from a yard at work. Thieves had to go through two locked gates to get to them using a truck they stole from an Ag machinery shop down the road. The trailer was found out by the Kokatau bridge and they put the truck down a bank of Bennett's Hill - so if you get offered a cheap DR they're may be some ownership issues. All of ours have been fitted with an aftermarket inline filter between gas tank and carb. They should all have a 2 or 3 digit number crudely stamped round the headstock somewhere too. Caveat emptor!

Sorry for the trouble mate but glad to see you have had a result in some ways, never lose your faith in human nature, eh....

I've passed the details around to a few people I know to keep their eyes open for the gear and me and the Fatt Family will be doing the same.

Take care dude
