Ok i'm bored so just been doing a little remini... reminis... remembering as i was flicking through a few photos and of the changes i have gone through in the last couple of years, since returning to riding from a 14 yr break !
My last ride back in 90/91 was a harley, Riding with clubs, Hog, Whoever, No fixed abode, all that sort of thing ! So been there done that and wanted to try sportish styles, (without letting go of the "in the wind" shit), so went for a naked trumpy !
Loved (and still do) the naked and was out there every opportunity i had to ride !
Heidi lived up on Mt Taranaki so it was the perfect ride from down these parts once a week, then when she moved down here it was still the perfect ride lol, but not the only one ! We attended a few rallys, cruised here and there together !

Well i picked up a small bike and surprised Heidi with it for christmas for her to learn on and did even more miles together (allbeit slower) for a good 6 months !

It was about then that i found track days woooohoooo, i could cruise with H on her scorp as much as we wanted and get my need for speed on the track ! That worked for a while !

Funny thing happend when we started riding in groups again (as i'd joined up with a local social club), she started to prefer to pillion rather than ride her own bike ! Knew it was because of the speeds the folk we rode with travelled at, her lil scorp couldn't and she wouldn't match them speeds, so she felt i was missing out as i refused to leave her to go and play so to speak, or it would mean leaving her to ride alone untill she caught up at the next stop ! Well that aint me, we go out together/we ride together !
So we'd go out two up and yep of course the lads started to play up, speeds increased with each ride, till it got to the point of crazy ! There i was with Heidi on the back, matchin them if not bettering the speeds they were doing !
Must have been october/november I pulled the pin !

You know how ya just get the feeling there's a sickle hanging over ya head as ya ride ? Well i felt it scratching the backs of our necks ! So i stopped (just like forest gump lol) i just stopped !
Got home from a ride one day and stripped all the road gear off the bike,(think it was the coast to coast, cool ride with no incidents, untill i bumped into a racer i knew on the Paihiatua track ! Then it was all on, far too many close shaves, cutting corners, missing cars by inches etc etc) went out next day and purchased a van to carry the bike to and from the track and have done no road riding since !

Haven't really missed it to be honest, as i've been chasing each and every track day available through the summer !
Heidi on the other hand is starting to miss the closeness of the pillion rides so there will be another change coming in the near future (again) Perhaps another Harley, Or even a new thunderbird ! Something that don't/won't/can't envoke the nutta in me !
But for now i am sooooo enjoying the track and have no intention of giving that up, with winter coming (bring on the winter series) we will look at moving the donor bike on as a trade (955 is in bits with some parts being borrowed atm) and possibly gettin H a new bike or something we can both cruise on !
