Calling GSer, pick up the courtesy phone.

There are a few up that way. They often join us on the Wellington organised rides as we are usually in the Wairarapa anyway.

Hi Sparrow

For places to ride check out my site: http://www.adventureridingnz.co.nz/ There's some good roads just over the hill in the Wairarapa and I have a few of them shown on my site.

You should also hook up with the Wellington guys as most of their days rides are in the Wairarapa.

thanks eddieb,
I have just been there and it's a well set up site :headbang:
but now am more after people who would be keen to get out there with me and try these out...
not keen to get off roading on my own yet as I have no off road experience so worried if something happens on my own... I wouldn't know what to do lol.

Hi Sparrow - you sound like a sensible man - not venturing too far off road by yourself

What Eddie said above - his site and 'Wellington Ride Outs - where to next' threads on this site and Adventure Rider under New Zealand - advrider.com

Look forward to making your acquaintance soon - cheers Aslan

Gday Sparrow, Your not to far from that Adventurous lot that lurk in the Hawkes Bay Area either. I get down to Palmy now and then on my beastie to see my daughter (One of those Uni Students that are always bleating poverty but always have money for parties) Happy to catch up one day anyway. HB has a huge network of back roads just made for Adv bikes.

I am still here, just in hibernation at the moment. New job and have been very busy. Still trying to move on with the project, having to make new injector holders stronger better first attempt ended up in the bin second is going better. Road riding now ruffy rego on hold need to find a new low beam for the 1150 light apparently its a RH drive new guy at testing station noticed it its only had half a dozen wofs like it there.

I'm often bashing about on the V-Strom. Nothing too serious, just gravel roads etc. Also go for a run with a decent month generally once a month.

G'day Waipukbiker,
I have never been to the Hawkes Bay area... will have to come through one day for a look around (East coast virgin!!:nya:)
Am keen to catch up so when ever you come down my way drop me a line, and I will do the same when I get the chance to come up your way.

the project sounds pretty interesting... as for the wof saga, it's always frustrating when one guy picks up on something that has never been a problem in the past... (if it's good enough for one it should be good enough for the rest - double standards)

Got a little issue with my bike at the moment, found it was lacking a little power, (only bought it in December) so was thinking it was a carbie issue... cleaned the air filter which made a rather impressive difference, and pulled the spark plugs, only to find the previous owner had stripped the thread on the inner spark plug, the spark plug was sitting proud of the cylinder head by about 1/4 of the thread, which I am going to have to send it in to the shop to have the thread repaired (recoiled or helicoil job) :tugger:

that wouldn't happen to be the ride on the 16th march along fishers track and the 42nd traverse? (just received an email with the details from local bike shop)
are you planning to go on it?

I've posted this intended ride under Wellington 'rideouts'

Seemed appropriate to share it with Manawatu folks - meet Allied Petrol Station, Napier Road Ashurst Saturday for a 10am departure.

Other gravel roads as time and enthusiasm permits

Cheers

Nice. Only been up there once on the DL (a few other times on trailees) and the weather was really crappy when we went up. Brought back a souvenir too...

Great pics!

It looks like the BRR assault on Fishers Track & 42 Traverse is still on for next weekend. Still not sure if the DL is going yet...
