Well i finally just got home after a somewhat annoying afternoon in the carpark at work.
I dropped my new baby in to Botany Honda for the lads there to give her a good looking over, and ensure that all is in tip top shape. Turns out bar needing a coolant change, and the scottoiler needing new tips, all was well :sunny:
They loaned me a CBR250 to get to work and back on. I thought Dave was taking the piss at first. For those who dont know me, i am about 6'2", and not a lightweight. i weigh more than that bike does. i was worried i wouldnt physically fit on the thing, or that i'd have to floss it out by the time i got to work! But i must say, i was pleasantly surprised how well i coped with it. Major adjustment in riding style, but i got the hang of her and got to work fine. Parked up in the usual spot, flicked the steering lock on, and wandered on site.
Got back to the carpark after work, geared up, turned the key to ON, nothing...
No headlight, no dash lights, no neutral light, NOTHING...
oh balls...
check the obvious... killswitch on, in neutral, sidestand up, hrm... seems to be a dead flat battery...
try bump starting to no avail, so on the phone to the bike shop. Dave runs me through everything, yes tried this, yes tried that, no im not a tard, YES I AM SURE THE KILLSWITCH IS ON
Oh, maybe you left it on park? There's a spot down near the lock position, if you turn it one more it leaves the headlight on.
Oh crap, that was indeed what i had done. You have to turn it an extra bit to get it to turn the headlight off! well i didnt bloody know that did i!?
so he realises he's gonna have to send out the ute to get me, and i continue tryin to bump start round the carpark, to fight the boredom as much as anything...
thought i heard a bit of a splutter there...
try again and it juuuussssstt ticks over, right on the edge of death but just enough juice cranked through the alternator by pushin to get a plug to go.
So back on the phone "Nope, cancel the rescue parade, i reckon i can get this bitch goin!"
After a good half hour pushin it round like a knob and dancing on the throttle once she was going to keep it going and not flood stall or kill it, i finally rode off. What a bloody ordeal!
And all to this find out that (as i suspected) there was nothin awry with my beastie :sunny:
Was a big change getting back onto the hornet though, had to take it easy on the way home!
