Nearly made it through another season of cricket coaching without injury but did not expect the person to get hurt to be me.
Were packing up the cricket gear bag with a few of the boys standing around and the next minute picking myself up from the ground as one of the boys threw the ball from behind us and whacked me on the side of the head of it.
Have had 2 days off work with concussion and head is still sore. It was a complete accident but as they say "never take your eye off the ball".
Roll on the soccer season I say, but at least the soccer ball is not all that hard when hitting your head

Gee you were lucky to just get out of that with just concusion as that would have felt like your head hitting a brick wall. Those cricket balls are hard as and not the best type of ball to get hit in the head with. Thank goodness you are ok and Yes, never take your eyes off the ball whatever ball it is as next time your situation could be alot worse.
Years ago I got hit in the side of the head from a netball whilst playing mixed indoor netball and all I can remember from that incident was seeing a whole load of stars in front of me. Got taken to hospital via ambulance and can honestly say that was the last game of mixed netball I have ever played as those guys sure know how to throw a netball at such a close range.
