I didn't make it. The mighty Busa lost all power going up the Takas and got taken home on the back of a truck. I could only watch all those bikes heading East while waiting and as passenger in the cab.

Thanks for the great ride today. Really enjoyed the loop from Gladstone and back. Had to leave the group a Martinborough to get home. Hope the ride to Lake Ferry and back was incident free. Was witness to a bad crash on the U/Hutt side of the Taka's. Guy on a Honda had what I can only describe as brain fade going through a corner stood bike up and straight in to the bank. Was in a pretty bad way. Was plenty of help there by the time I got off the bike and ran over. Heard he was air lifted to Hospital. Don't know why he didn't just lean further in to the corner. Would have made it without to much trouble from my view point. Wasn't going fast as I caught him and his mate up fairly easily.

Thanks to all those who joined Rusty and myself on our great ride today. It sure was a most enjoyable day with riding on some amasing back roads.
Thanks to TTNZ for sticking with me over the Rimatukas after the back up of traffic after that motorcycle accident. Awesome of you to do so.
Thanks for the great cup of coffee at Balzy & Coffee Junkie's place after our ride as it was very much needed before we headed home to the Kapiti Coast.
Hope all those who rode with us today enjoyed it as much as we did.
We look forward 2 seeing you all again on our next ride which I hope isn't too far away.
Takecare out there Guys and Girls and ride safely.

Standing up mid-corner has happened to me twice in a panic.... you think you have more chance stopping the bike than leaning over and low siding it.

Is this something they teach you how to "combat the urge" on an advanced course - or just practice or HTFU?

Look at your exit point and where you want to go. Counter steer and have faith in your tyres, they have more grip than you think!

yes holy i tend to agree with you there mate, the bike will go where you are looking, I feel he may have looked at the bank and frozen on it and maybe come in alittle too hot.....Forgot to let go front brake maybe

Has anyone 1 heard how the rider is after his accident yesterday as it must have been fairly serious if the helicopter was called in to take him to hospital?.

No news yet, going to ask jas when he gets home from work, he may have seen wolfgang, will keep you posted, Fingers crossed for the rider tho, always freaky when the helicopter is called

Duke girl

Yeah lets hope he is ok. Not good when any motorcyclist is involved in an accident and being flown to hospital by helicopter means it was fairly serious. Thoughts are with him and his familyand friends.

Yeah, maybe. Hard to tell from my view point. Just saw him stand the bike up and go straight in to the bank. Hope he's okay. Didn't look to flash when I left.

Hey thanks guys and gals for turning up. It was more of a spur of the moment ride we put together, but it was too good a day not to waste in the garden.
Glad everyone that joined us had a good ride, and enjoyed the roads we went on, i'am new to this area and enjoying the roads out there in the Wairarapa. I Know a lot of good roads up in the Gisborne ,Hawkes bay region, but these equal them.
The road Lees Pakaraka, and up to Wainuioru and back down to Gladstone was awsome, (thank god someone else new the way as we over shot a turn and started heading out into the Ngaumu Forest.)
A quick stop at Martinborough where some of the group left, then down to Lake Ferry for a cold one.
Thanks to TTNZ for looking after my gal coming up the Taka's in that traffic, shes not to keen on the wind up there on that small bike of hers.
Thanks for the coffee, yep at coffeejunkie and BalzyBuells place, needed that thanks guys.
Got back home to Waikanae at 7.30pm and another 385 klms on the clock.
Hope to get another ride soon out that way to Castle Point for the day but will leave a little earlier next time.

That accident was in the afternoon, right?

When I met you guys at Rimutex in the morning, a cop car with siren and lights flashing screamed by going up towards the Rimutakas, then a bit later there was an ambulance. When your group left Rimutex, did you see the cop car and ambulance? I thought there may have been another accident.
