Just about home from the morning ride today, passing through Rukahia, when on the opposite side of the road I see a HP car, lights ablinkin', pulling up a biker...biker didn't look like he was speeding (not by then anyhoo) and didn't really look like a fang artist anyway - upright seated bike, fairing like a tourer with highish windscreen, matching Cordura gear...seemed pretty meek and mild mannered from my side of the road. I wondered what heinous crime he was guilty of...then decided that I should keep my own nose clean...never know when you're gonna get pinched.

>>never know when you're gonna get pinched.<<>

Actually mate - you do. It's called the Road Code. Comes in softback, saddle stitched and nicely illustrated.

Not if you are being checked for "licence, reg and WOF please Sir" as I was not so very long ago. No other reason at all - just a check. The nice man in the blue suit told me so...

Actually it's called "whether or not the officer is having a bad day".

I have never experienced that. Been busted plenty and it was deserved. Got off some too.

Licence and rego check isn't an issue if they are in order either.

I'll gladly pay that inconvenience to take the shitboxes that haven't had their brake pads checked for 2 years off the road.

Last week I found I was riding with a WOF that was 3 days out of date...what I took to be a 26 was in fact a 20...it was only when I checked the date I bought the bike that I twigged...WOF sticker had been wet and the ink had run and it was hard as to read...which is what I had in mind when I said "keep my own nose clean"...coz I NEVER do anything bad on the road....

Most things with an engine are capable of the speed limit + 11 km/h. You don't have to be going fast, or even too fast for that matter, to get a speeding ticket.

Yeah, true of course...and by the time I saw him the LEO was right on his hammer...he obviously wasn't trying to outrun them...

Speaking of WOF's I got mine a couple of weeks ago and only just realised that they punched the wrong hole! The date written is correct expiry but they punched this month instead of expiry month. Thought maybe just leave it as havn't had any dramas with boys in blue and 6 months seems to fly by so just wait until next one? Anyone think this will lead to hassles?

I thought my bike was WOF'd around new year and had till june to get the new one until i looked at the old label (which is visable) and it showed june 08

went and got it checked when it was due and found it was overdue by 3 months :nono: and that I had got my wife's bike done and seems that I forgot to get mine done...

All renewed now so I suppose I am lucky I had not been pulled up and checked :niceone:

I'd probably go ask someone about that...if you have parking wardens dishing out reg and WOF offence notices you might find they only look at the hole...then you would have the hassle of proving your point...

Just another variation of....we have had a report of someone *insert crime here* in this area and you fit the description...just another bullshit reason to pull you over to see if they can increase the quota for the day without all the hard work, I have had several variations in my time so it must be something that is taught at the police training school...

Its the same as the standard line they give when trying to get you to admit to speeding.." any reason for the speed" ...."do you know how fast you were going?" etc its just a line to get you to admit the offence so they don't have to stand up in court if you try and dispute it.....

I get sick of being pulled over for no reason especially with all the crazy shit I see on the roads, and look what happens when you *555 it.."sorry sir all our units are busy (pulling people over for minor offences) to try and get the drunk/stupid/plain dangerous driver off the road, maybe you can go to our website and report him so we can print them out then take turns throwing them into the rubbish bin.

It has happened to me once in nine years and a hell of a lot of riding. (stopped for licence & rego check) And several road blocks.

Did you not see how many unlicensed vehicles were put off the road in the last few blitzes?
I reckon If I'm paying that shit - everyone pays that shit. Rock on plod.

As far as delings with mr/ms plod mine have been a fair cop or reasonably lenient.
The number has been about the same on the gun as it was on the speedo. :-0

SPB will be by soon.

Last WOF/ REg check I saw was on the way to Meremere for 4 and Rotary's. there were 6 plod cars pulling all the 'boy racers' over, on my bike I just got a friendly wave through. 'mmm nice not to be seen as the bad boy for once' thought I. Those guys sure do get some attention, I know some of em are dicks but lots are just guys who like their cars.
