I did last Friday at Taupo (first time there and had a wicked time) and I'll be heading there again on Saturday.

My lunatic plan is to ride down, thrash around the track and ride home all in the same day.

Who's coming ?

Having done that myself in the past, I'd not recommend it. You'll be pretty knackered before you even leave the track, so if you do go ahead take care on the ride home.

The worst bit though, is the nagging voice in the back of your head while your out on the track reminding you that you are reliant on that bike to get home . . .

If I find out now who is going to be there and I do bin the thing at least I'll know who I can try and mooch a ride home with.....

I don't know what the deal is for garages on this day, but I am keen to get one. They are normally $50 for the day and from what I understand can get 6 bikes in there. Who wants in?

Ill be there :D cant wait counting down the days lol. Just got fix an exhaust gasket coz right now its louder than jet on steroids :2thumbsup

If your bike breaks down either on your way down or up then you're screwed. And after the full day you will be buggered! Take some pain killers if you're riding up mate. Wouldn't recommend it.

Why don't you get a vehicle with a tow bar and chuck the bike in a trailer, get a mate and share the costs?

Yep possibly in for 2 spots, but can't confirm till tommorrow late.

OK. I have contacted Taupo direct to try and book 1 side of a garage so maybe only 3 or 4 bikes (6 would be a full double garage). Should get this done tomorrow...

Last sat we had 5 in our garage no probs and the other side of the garage had about 8!!!
All squeeze in no probs.

I've got nothing other than the bike to go in the garage so I hardly take up any room.

I've just pre-paid so count me in.

I had a mate with the same idea as you two year old honda well maintained that didnt make it down there ruined his whole week as he had to get a loft back to auckland and get a trailer and go pick up his bike from Matamata

I cant wait two days of track riding yeeeehaaaaaaa. Im racing on the sunday too, weathers gunna be primo too :clap:

Thats handy ! Ya can just wheel it next door to 19/20 and lock it and ya gear up in there for the night if ya wanted !
Be plenty of racers there on sat i recon, so wont be a shortage of ppl wanting garage spots Chris !

Can you do that? Yep ! Already checked with track management and it's a go if we want ! They slept in them on the night of the spectacular lol shame they don't have a bar !

Yesterday was awesome.

I'll post a full report - maybe after breakfast.

In short

Riding down to Taupo at night in April is bloody cold.
Was OK till about Tokoroa (wearing 5 layers) but that last stretch to Taupo was freezing.

The Weather was mint.

Did 5 sessions and headed home at 4pm. Riding back in daylight is way easier (and much faster too).

Hope all the racers have a good one today - hopefully see you guys at Puke next Sat.
