Ah but is it worth the trip UP? i recon i'll be in as long as i can get some fags to split the gas with me. MXheman you have to do it you slut

well its close to 1000k round trip for me if i stay at mates place cause of the xtra 150ks travel hence we stayed at turangi last year. it normally rains on the sunday which changes everything had some wicked hill climbs and heaps a mud just ask 4stroke.
Had another mate who drove up from welly last year from the police college to do it well worth it.

AA harder than the main track
AAA harder yet again
what they dont tell yah is there is a couple of AAAA track which are a real mission
some have detours or they warn you before hand so you dont have to go down and get stuck

How would you compare the main track to the B track in thunder mate? The first time I ever rode, you fella's took me there and shit...was it hard!! Had no idea what to do... :lol:... ended up with a dislocated thumb and for finger..haahaha

main track is easyish all tracks have hard bits but everyone helps out most of the A, AA, AAA loops all join back in to main loop before they get to any hard parts heaps a kids do the main loops on 80s even seen the odd 50 youll be fine. Come down this sunday for some pratice at thunder.

Ok so who comin down hell of a good ride worth the trip should be lots ice to ride on the sunday with early start given how cold its been lately. At this point ive got room for two more bikes and people lookin at going down friday night as far as cambridge accom sorted and wing it in turangi saturday night although should get in where we stayed last year piss easy and cheap.

Hey what's the terrain like on this ride? I am dealing with the "should I get new tyres" conundrum at the moment.

Is there papa rock, grass and other slippery stuff or is it pumice like other rides in the Taupo area?

Well interesting weekend most of the track was frozen solid which made for very interesting riding skill you really had to feather the throtle any more it was arse about face, Same thing said for your line had to be very carefull get the rear in a different rutt and round it gose your a 90deg to where you where, made a lot of the hill climb a good challenge and a lot of bike being turned into steam train mine included

I now require bike to have good strip down some most have come up and sean the city scramble as they threw in a river bout 500m of water and rock. Really wasnt that hard appart from the 45min spent waiting to get down the 60deg decent to it of slope which was a good 700m (peps stuck all over the place ) and the rather deep water holes at the end. I now have some water in motor not good. Also some how managed to rip all the teeth off the rear sprocket bar 3 as per photo lucky to get back and to have picked up a 426 for a rebuild in hamilton on way down quick swap of wheels for sunday all good.

Not to sure on that one didnt even notice till we got back and was at hotel locking them up suprise i was still movin at all really sure as hell didnt slow it down. guess picked up a rock chain was a little tight to start but had lossened up after we started out and the teeth where still there then.

Just lucky i pick up the other bike on the way down instead of on our way back.

Yeh the guy being helped out (not 4stroke) came flyin through front went in a hole he went up over bars got caught up under it in the tree. And all the quads turned tail and ran back the other way hahahaha.

My old stomping ground that part of the world. Wicked mudhole. Looks bloody cold alright, maybe those teeth broke from ch-ch-chattering. Never seen a sprocket like that before! Deep water crossings suck, or rather engines suck when in deep water. Should be sortable with a good tip upside down and drain out (?), hope it works out OK.

lol didnt help me too much, needed to be on super vac to keep me on the ground, got a toasted left radiator shroud, big arse split in the front mud guard and some sore muscles, bloody good fun on the ice skating rink tho, i had a couple offs each day, todays one was a riper, come over a crest got a bit of air as i landed the rear started swinging side to side untill i had a coming together with a tree lol.

Double A loops were extreme. On Saturday the AA was mostly just one long 3-4 km AA loop rather than a few AA loops that would've given you the option of rejoining the main track. So once committed to AA that was that - death or glory. Never before on a trail ride have we had to use ropes to haul two wheelers out of the tough stuff! Bloody exhausting, but rewarding looking back on it. Just a pity they didn't shut some of it off to the sports quads cos they slowed the flow up considerably when they bottomed out. And I know some of the guys on quads would have preferred not to be in that stuff. All said and done though, great main tracks and not the place to be complacent given the frozen ground and short grass could catch you out at any time, quite spectacularly in my case at about 80 clicks!

Only rode on sunday but out of the 4 laps i did, i managed to crash 3 times on the ice. :crybaby: :crybaby:
Last one was at about 70 kmh and landed flat on my back and winded me .:argh:
Quad rider who stopped was ready to get the ambulance as he was sure i must have broken something :doctor::doctor:

Ice on the ground still at 3.00 pm....... Whats that about ????

that ice does need throttle control !!!:crazy: but the trick is when you see a group of riders waiting by a corner ...........its a good sign ,,,someone has been off :wacko:

the rad's still mint, hasnt even got a bent fin aye, gona leave the rad shroud the way it is because the rad mount is still good and its only broken the point off and weld the mud guard up, no worries, doesnt seem that long ago i brought some new plastics after another off..:bash::brick:

I don't believe it, my left radiator got bent so bad in an off the hose was kinked & damn near cooked my txc & you do that & nothing :bash::bash:, mind you I didn't do any plastic damage :clap::clap: ( evidently damage to a husky is different from ice drops vs sand hill climbing ).

ice drops lol the ground was frozen a foot thick, was like riding on old wet cowshit on crocrete, you would have loved it, ill go take a pic to show you its still strait, was good to see a few huskys down there too.

Yeah was dead keen, but had a few family things to deal with.

I believe you it's straight :), mine fall from uphill side to downhill, I was never going to get away without some damage.

There are a few huskies around now eh, nice to see that the sea of orange is getting broken up & I've got to say I'm liking mine big time.
