Well what can I say...................I got the learn big time from Choppa:crybaby:
PMCC Rnd 3 was on my hit list for a clean sweep of the last 2 rounds, that changed dramatically when I opened the pit shed door on Sun morning and saw a certain ex Mr Stroud's bike sitting in there, dammit Choppa that is not a stock bike like your dads now is it? Bloody nice bit of kit though and it got ridden like it should too..........................FAST!!!!!!
Got signed in and had the bike ok'd and had a squiz through the programme, buggar me Hayden Fitzgeralds racing too..............hahaa, my plans of total domination were crumbling around me...............I wasn't too worried though as the day looked like an absolute stunner and I was just happy to be back at the track, even if it was gonna be a tad slippery in places.
The previous day I'd made a hard decision that this was going to be my last race probably for the year as its gotten on top of me a bit financially due to........yes the "R" word affecting my job................(yes R is for recession those that need it explained:innocent:) so today was about doing well but more importantly I was gonna have fun doing it.
Ok Qualifying............
Went out trying to avoid the black stuff and was surprised to get straight into a high 1.35's, that put me third with Chop and Hayden ahead, no surprises there really.
Race 1
I love starting off the front row, it makes it so much easier to get on the pace straight away. Got a fairly good start but had a pesky little toy bike appear from nowhere into turn one, it was the Tigcraft 550 thing, fast wee fukker..............I ended up stuck behind it until the short straight before T11? the far sweeper. Once he'd been despatched I watched Sloan and Hayden buggar off down the straight.....................thats pretty much how it stayed, I did start to catch Hayden after something must've happened to his bike and was gaining through the twisties but his bike had too much HP down the straight.............gone like a rocket, a stock motor don't cut it against these fancy bikes. Ended up 6 sec behind him for 3rd with a standup over the line...............Frenchy I didn't get told off either mate hahaaa.
Race 2
Much the same this one..................its taken me a year but I can actually stay with the fast boys off the line now...........:woohoo:
Into T1 in 4th, just not quite aggresive enough to stuff it up the inside of Paul Brown who is a lightening starter. I nearly got him back at turn 5 but again was cautious, going through the fast T9 he ran a tad wide coming out so the HP was applied and that was that. Had a lonely race to the line and again showed off with a standup to finish 3rd.
I really wanted to get into the 34's in this one and I was trying like buggery to do it, to the point I was sliding the front damn near in every turn hahaa, didn't quite get there unfortunately, 1:35.088..............close but no cigar.
Very happy with 3rd considering who was in front of me, Sloan mate you are one to watch for the next Nats, impressive dude.
Have to say a quick thanks to those who have supported me for a year, and that the Metzelers rock!
So thats looking like its about my lot for a while, am thinking hard about parting the bike out and putting it back in road trim to flick off to help with lowering expenses for a while, when I come back I can see I'll be needing something just a wee bit more competitive to stay close to the front, yep I said when!
If anyone feels the need to have some grey haired not quite so young fella ride their bike feel free to get in touch, am more than happy to accept charity ...................LMAO
