Ok we have threads for sx, mx and gncc so i figure we need one for the World Enduro championship. Two rounds have run... Portugal and Spain, Knighter isn't doing too well on the beemer. Aubert is poised to kick ass again. Cervantes is showing he can mack it on a bigger bike as well as a 125 and that's about it.

Anyone else following? My real reason for starting this thread is cos i want torrents for it and can't find any lol. I could get them last year... maybe they'll just take a while to come through? Anyone got the secret info for torrent links?

Here's the WEC site with a little clip of the Spain round. Man these guys are cool. Fuck Chad Reed

Oh and this is the WEC utube channel. Has 20 vids all short tho

So whats the story with the BMW dream teams weak showing so far?

7th April 2009, 09:39
Dunno really. Knighter tweaked his knee and DNF'd the second day of the first round after placing 6th on the first day and was 6th day1 round2 and 6th day2 round2. I recon everyone else is just on fire and haven't had the 2 year break. All the fast boys are in that class (E3) Aro, Nambotin, Cervantes. Cervantes is killing them man

Salminen got 5th and 6th first round in his class (E2). 9th and 5th second round. I guess there's gotta be some teething for the new team and you don't hear much detail about what's going on in the teams but i think it's largely the fact that these young fellas are so fukkn fast. Reigning champ Aubert is on a KTM now and kicking ass. Teammate bellometti doing well too in that class

Basically if you wanna win you have to be on a KTM like Cervantes, Aubert, Aro, (Salminen, Knight -previousely) and can't forget Birch lol. My question is why aren't you over there with these guys? And how'd Pahiatua go for ya?

ha haa, yeah i'm a loud mouth and usually just say things for shock value. I love watching supercross too and haven't missed a round... i watch the good ones twice lol. I also recon chad's the man, he never faulters under pressure from stewart and stewart looks totally out of control sometimes. I'd say chad's the better rider. I secretly back him over Stewart for that reason but man i wish Villapoto was on their pace not to mention the fact we all wish Coops would qualify

So whats the story with the BMW dream teams weak showing so far?

From Markus Theobald ( Project lead for 450x http://www.knighter.net/joomla/index.php/news2/114-bmwspa )

“We do now have a clearer picture of what our riders are experiencing. We know that on some special tests they are able to
put in fast special test times, but mistakes are common, and these mistakes are holding them back. We need to understand
why in some situations they are fast and can ride freely and to their full potential, and why on other occasions they are
unable to give 100 per cent without experiencing mistakes.

Sounds like the beemer has a few handling issues.

Cheers for that taki. Knight is a guest commentator at round 2 of the MX1 and he mentions that they've got a new chassis comming for his bike for the next round of the WEC so that may say something too

Sweet as I totally agree with you.......Steward is the man but i just like to see the yanks get it given to them no offence to Steward though he hardly seems like your typical yank

See young J Lawrence is mixing it up with the big guys now,As for Villapoto i just cant see him up there hes been way of the pace this year but in saying that the team he racing under said they were expecting this as a rookie

Enough about this anyways this is an enduro thread

Because compared to those dudes I am slow as. Nowhere near WEC pace. I didn't go to Pahiatua because I promised myself I would never go back again after last year (and the previous five years) piss poor event. Its too far to go for a bad race. Its brilliant terrain though. I guess the BMW is still very much under development, its bad news when you need to be changing the frame though! Hopefully the superhero's will find a set up that works and be ripping it up by the end of the season.

really, that's out of it. I'd of thought we (NZers) would be pretty decent at that sort of thing. Do ya recon you can beat Merriman?

How do they get so fast? i mean like... do they start riding at age 2 and ride 6 days a week from age 5. All the while having parents with lots of money for all the best gear... it's just not fair. What is the X factor that these Europeans have?

From David Knight

"Well just home from Italy and another bad weekend for the team! We said we wanted a challenge, and thats certinaly what we got, thats for sure, but I guess things can only improve, I gotta try to laugh about it, cos their aint nothing we can do about it in the very near future, cos things take time to figure out and put right. Anyway people who know what they are talking about understand , then u get idiots that think they do, and think Juha, Marko and myself have forgotten how to ride a bike, or we are to old, or some crap!!! Hahaha, does make me laugh! funny how we all turned shit overnight! We will have the last laugh and shut the buggers up, that is for sure, and other than that, not much in the wec has changed to much! Catch u later, Knighter"

round 3 Sardinia, Italy

Knight DNFd with clutch problems on the BMW in E3 but team mate Juha Salminen did better with 3rd on both days in the E2 class

4stroke, you'll be stoked to hear that Husky's Seb guillaume came first day 1 E3 and 2nd on Day 2 so he's coming 2nd in the championship to Ivan Cervantes on a KTM who came 3rd on day1 and 1st on day2. Knight's coming tenth

In E2 KTM's Johnny Aubert won both days and is leading the championship after winning every round so far. Juha salminen is coming 7th on the beemer

The videos of Mika ( www.bike.fi/content/1401/, www.bike.fi/content/1400/ ) as posted already are awsome.

Here's a video of Knighter in the Friday

From the wec site.

"The presence of David KNIGHT in the Grand Prix of SLOVAKIA is very uncertain… His premature abandonment in Finland on Saturday and his renunciation of the Sunday proves that the divorce is imminent between BMW and KNIGHTER… But the rider of the ISLAND of MAN could very quickly re-appear under other colours in order to try to prove that he is always at the top."

Combine this with the following from his web site & I think Knighter on anything but a BMW & KTM seems certain from now on.

"No, not much happening, i'm just gonna go back to a full standard frame, I prefer that to the new one, Its a bit dissapointing really, two months off and no progress"

Aye, a damn fine result I thought for a first WEC ride, especially when you consider it appeared the track favoured the open class bikes.

Wonder if Birchy is doing the Endurocross in the US at Vegas this weekend, sounds like Whib's / Knighter / Rory Mead are all going to be there ( Knighter is 90% confirmed, just needs a 2/ 250 to get sorted, Yamaha maybe ?? ).

Regarding endurocross, Knighter said he wanted a 250/2 for Romaniacs & I jumped to the conclusion he would have the same for Endurocross so my bad there ( he's 90% sure on romaniacs & trying to get a bike for endurocross according to his forum posts anyways ).
