To be honest I'd prefer payment in full-- Its less cash to handle on the day - But Im happy with the $20 deposit
PLEASE dont leave paying untill the last minute cos it clearly takes 24 hours for the funds to show up and if it comes to an argument it will be the person that paid the deposit first that wins

Why da fuk not? I'm using my road gear (Draggin jeans to be, and cordura jacket - or some other textile; feels fine when binning).
I don't actually plan to fall off btw!

Well... a ziped together 2 piece or a 1 piece race suit with proper riding boots and gloves covering all of your fingers, an approved helmet with no damage and a back protector is the bare minimum for a race meeting.
Otherwise you'll be told to piss off.
P.S. I'd advise even people doing just the track days to wear full protection. It's not like some pissy little tumble on the park. People can get seriously hurt or killed. It is better to reduce the chances of that happening by wearing the right gear.

I don't have "a ziped together 2 piece or a 1 piece race suit with proper riding boots and gloves covering all of your fingers, an approved helmet with no damage and a back protector" so what do you suggest I do? And go buy one isn't an option. The riding I'm planning on doing at the track is no different to what I do on the road at times. On the track I'm most likely to low side (again, I DON'T plan to give it heaps) where you just slide (mostly)...
Good textiles are fine, imho, for a track DAY...

liftback was talking about racing his 250 in street stock class. You gave your advise about that specific post of his. I corrected your advise bassed on road racing rules set by MNZ.
On trackdays it's up to you but I still say it's best to be as safe as possible.

Yeah man... the trackday you can wear road gears but I was talking about streetstock (actual race meets...). and when it comes to that, im not taking any chances. so its full leathers etc (obviously i have to have them to compete anyways but even id i didnt i would still want something a bit better than my textile gears & skate shoes)

Where exactly is the taupo racetrack btw?
Travel along SH1. Enter Taupo (the town) and hang a left at the first roundabout (i think) kepp going along that road for about 5 minutes (or less) and you will see a sign saying 'Taupo Race Track'
Jase W
13th March 2005, 18:42
Ok i'm assuming you're coming in from the north? (heading south) because i'm guessing you mean go down spa road (which is left from your perspective). Otherwise if I take a left (ill be coming in from the south, heading north) ill end up down at the harbour bit next to the river (which then goes back into town).
That sound right? :D
FROSTY
13th March 2005, 18:55
easy way to find the road to The track.
Find woolworths supermarket.-from dorkland its the first roundabout ya come to after the bridge. From welly way ya turn right at the last roundabout
Head out of town down spa road till ya get to the BP station from there its about another 3km to the track

No worries. People get hung up on the speed thing. It is not a race day. Yep the fast bikes will go out on their own and put on a great show but the Newbie's are put together to ride at an appropriate speed. I hope they have a lead bike to keep things tidy for the first few laps. The second or average group of bikes, appears to be the biggest, is also a chance to ride at a comfortable speed. Some go flat out and some just get the feel of their bikes in a safe environment. Chance to test breaking gear changes etc in corners. Hit the rev limiter if you want but for me it is a chance to try different cornering techniques etc. If the races in the mid rang get going well and hit good speeds they will soon move up with the fast bikes. It is a great day for all. Even if it rains still go. You learn a lot in the rain

i dont want to sound cocky or arrogant but if i find the slow group to be too slow after the first session, would it be possible to try out the middle group? From what I have seen at track days that is what you should do. No good going to fast in a group that wants time to ride with out someone lapping them ever 90 seconds. No shame in coming down from the top group to the mid rang if you are holding them up. Mind you I am not an organiser of this day and it is only how I see other track days. if I am incorrect Frosty will soon tell me.

dude basicly everybody will be being watched and if anyone is going either a lot faster or slower than the rest of their group they will be asked to change groups.
The group thing is in order to avoid accidents especially with a speed diferential.

Well life sucks. I went for a ride on sunday to wear out my tires a bit more before i replace them, and what do ya know! my front tyre slipps around a corner and i come off at 100k's into a dirt bank!! I have shattered my ankle, and the bike is a write off.. :spudwhat:
SO I wont be making it to the trackday frosty! Would you mind giving me my money back? I will PM you my details. Now who's the lucky person to take my place?
Now i have to wait and see if the insurance company is going to cover me or not because of all the speeding tickets i have had in the past. OHH God i hope they do pay out! Otherwise there goes about $14,000 down the tubes! (all my gear as well as the bike).

I have not seen the bike yet but Mikes helmet is covered in motor oil as if the engine exploded. So sounds like its a bit more that a bent frame.

Yes it was accually! Were you one of the guys on the bikes that went past? The one at the back did a huge wheelie... And i was saying "Lucky Bastards!!" heh..
I'm going back into hospital on monday for an operation. Plate and screws or something like that.. But they say it should heal OK..
Cheers for the support guys! :)

Well it certainly wasn't me doing a wheelie, huge or otherwise!
I had gone up to Wellsford and back with NinjaBoy, and on the way back came around the corner to see an ambulance and a pretty looking blue plastic thing having a lie down on the road. Except it wasn't looking very pretty at that point.
As the ambulance was in attendance I guessed I'd be more an hinderance if I stopped.
Hope things go well on Monday!

Sorry to hear this. Hope the op on the ankle goes well. All bikes can be fixed :yeah: but if you had cover before the accident you will be paid out. Getting insurance on the next bike might be a different story. Take care and heal fast.

Bad luck Arven. Hope your ankle heals fast.
Even if the bike is written off, my recent experience suggests that shouldn't be too much of an issue getting insurance again. Just the premiums will go up and the excess is likely to be higher. Just have to be real careful for following 12 months or so .... heal fast :niceone:

Sorry to here that. I brought a new chain a few weeks ago and its almost the same price to get a chain and sprocket set as a new chain. Look into the price as theres a good chance you spockets have a bit of wear as well.
