Yeah so you hate Wilsons ... why??? ... .cos they don't like your bike ???? or skin colour ???? or something else silly ... or for a real reason?????

Thing is why would you wish something like lupus a destructive degenerative disease on anyone .. let alone their children ... I know you want to rant ... but having multiple sclerosis I would not wish something like this on my worse enemies and trust me they are probably worse they Wilsons.

There is a reason for them being so horrid.
Wilson Parking was started in Oz by the Wilson brothers, who sold out to a Singaporean company. Their avowed ambition is to take over ALL praking in the Southern Hemisphere, and to make shitloads of money. To do this, they have to be greedy, avaricious, unscrupulous arseholes. They do deals with towtruck companies to tow cars immediately they exceed stated praking limits, then they get a cut of the towage fees.
They do deals with property owners around the place to stop making free praking available, so people are forced to use Wilsons nearby praks. (This has apparently happened up near the uni, where vacant lots are now 24-hour, 7-day towaway areas.
Unfortunately, the Auckland City Council (and no doubt, other councils) have become unwitting dupes in WP's megalomaniacal schemes, and sold ratepayer-owned carpraks and land to Wilson to extend their monopoly, justifying it as, "We're not car praking operators - our business is running the city".
Fuckwits.

Unless you are in Wellington where they seem to have lost most of their contracts and park with Tournament Parking.

Yeah. Had to bring the cage. Dammit. And then park and have one of their idiots ambush us as we get out of the car telling us we can't park there, but not prepared to give us a reason we can't park there (it's not reserved or anything, and Miss Mully parks there whenever she doesn't come on the bike).

It was the ranty bullshit I could have done without. If (s)he had been polite it wouldn't have been an issue. Instead, it had to throw it's "authority" around to tell us to move "right now"

It's just a pity they can't get real jobs - like bullet testers or something.

Which Wilsons?

I know the one down at the Viaduct ropes off the parks on the ground floor til about 9am (or later? can't remember...) which I think sucks cos why should early birds not get the primo spots???

But as far as being told ya can't park in a certain spot ...well if there isn't a reserved/company sign then WTF???

It's coz they pay them peanuts (to maximise their profits).

Last year my wife got directed by some parking people (3 in a row, dunno if they were Wilsons or what) to prak her car, after she'd checked with each of them about where she should park.
This was when she was picking up some elderly relatives from a cruise ship, on a very windy rainy day.
A ticket for parking in the wrong place arrived a couple of weeks later. Despite her protesting about the fact she was TOLD to prak where she did, they didn't care, and told her she was lucky they didn't have her towed and didn't charge her another $200+ for that.

Fair Go have run numerous stories on both Wilson parking and Tournament Parking. Neither company has a good reputation.

I can leave home 5 minutes before I need to be somewhere. I can park right ouside the movies, the mall or the restaurant of my choice.

The parking is plentiful and free, except in the main road where 9-5 weekdays it will cost you $0.20 an hour.

Parked on the street (near the Wilson carpark), $4 per hour, was over the 1 hr by about 40mins, got a fine.
I was pissed off till I realised that my $4 + the $12 fine was still less than I would have paid for the same period at the Wilson carpark.

I too discovered this. And since you only get caught half the time on the street it's even cheaper still!
