You need a .22 with a telescopic sight on it. That way you can sting a huge stag on the arse with it from a kilometer away, and it will be completely impossible to hit anything closer than 50m... and that is a good thing, coz if its a kilometer away you can sit back and go "wow check that out" while it bucks and flaps off into the undergrowth. If you shoot anything up close you will won't heavily wing it, and this is good also as it can't stampede through the bush and rake you to death with its points, so you get to live. ;)

basicly what you want to do is get a 303 sporty englfield from trade me can offen get these between 80-150 bucks, dirt cheap.
then you want to cut the stock down, so its like a pistol grip.
then you want to cut the barrel down to as short as posable.
That way you can easily store it on the bike when you ride.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Sports/Hunting-shooting/Rifles/auction-211674760.htmOh yeah, thats heaps. You will have fun stinging things on the arse with it. Don't point it at people, obviously, but that will bounce off a deer nicely at 200m away, and you will feel quite the hunter with it. Don't let the deer see you with it, coz it will fall on the ground for a full 15mins and be unable to get up, just like other hunters will too. Just make sure when the deer bolts that it bolts AWAY from you, not towards you, or else you're gunna pay. :doctor:

join your local range, ask questions, ask to fire different weapons. the smallest you want to go is .243, the biggest you probably want to go is 7mm rem mag. the remmington model 700 is a good mid level rifle and will do the job. 7mm/08 or 308 are both very common and will do the job out to 300m.

Not a bad idea. He can't afford to eat, so he's going to go out hunting for his food.
Problem is he won't have much of a chicken left after a 303 shot.

Good luck dropping a deer with that skiddy! Yo umay want to think about a 30.06, 7mm 08, .303, .243 or .270 as some options of deer guns. A .243 may be a tad small for red deer etc, but will drop fallow deer easy. If you are seriously gonna go after red deer etc. then think about a 30.06 or a .303...a .270 would also be fine IMO.

Suppose say you did actually get your firearms license one day, just buy a double trigger 12guage, make sure it can handle 3-1/2 inch mag shells, get some big ol rifled slugs and fire them both at once.
If it was an american film (something like what is going on in your head I'm guessing) then it wouldn't kick at all and all the deer in the forest will be immediately rendered into finely cut steaks and rolled roasts.
Its easy really, just like 60-0kph in 2 sec..

The fully floating barrel...It takes out any recoil imputs from the shooter...
'Floating' barrels don't take out 'recoil inputs from the shooter'. Where'd you hear that bollocks? And how do you think it's supposed to work?
'Floating' barrels are the sort that don't rest directly on the stock around them, which stops the point of aim from changing as the barrel heats and expands.

It is the muzzle brake that reduces the felt recoil. Floating the barrel is for accuracy.
