Thanks for the heads up.I went last year but a bald front tyre and empty bank account means I wont make it this time.
This ride deserves heaps of support as we all know who gets to pick up the pieces after another Sunday avo oops on the Takas!

Our group leaves Masterton at 9.15 from the car park across from MacDonalds / next to the old auction building.
Weather forecast is for no rain.

Bugger that, there's WW1 fighters at Hood Aerodrome.
They're showing a scratch built F.E.2b with an original Beardmore engine for the first time.
3 S.E.5s, a B.E.2c, an F2B, an Avro 504K
They should do the Ambulance run from Wellington to Masterton. Leave immediately after the dawn service and soak up the early morning castor oil fumes an hour later. Couldn't be better.

Yeah, it is a bummer. A few days ago I saw three WW1 biplanes flying in formation around the city / Hood Aerodrome.
However, supporting the Ambulance Run is more important to me. It is a very worthy cause and riding in a big group on the way to Wellington beats seeing a few planes buzzing about (and there is always the Wings over Wairarapa air show).

The TVASL Airshow is 1:30 to 4pm, so there's no reason why one couldn't do both events.
The Ambulance ride should be pretty much done by midday, it finishes about 2 - 3 stonethrows from the motorway and it's only a bit over an hour to Masterton.

Yes definitely. This will be a very laid back cruise. Lots of different bikes to look at and people to talk to. $10 for a badge if you want one - proceeds go to the Wellington Free Ambulance. Ride over the Haywards into Thorndon Quay for a bbq and a presentation of the cheque. Chance to have a look through an ambulance before you have to!
:2thumbsup
You're very welcome.

Damn, I recall reading about that....but..but..but that was nearly a month ago and it was still rideable!?
Unfortunately NannyAnn is coming tomorrow, otherwise it wouldn't be a problem to cart you over the hill.....or are you one of those riders that won't/can't pillion?
James Deuce
24th April 2009, 21:24
In the shop being repaired. Rideable and pleasant to ride are two different things. Riding it to the shop the day after made it apparent just how bent the bars were.
Pillion's no drama, especially on an ST. I've got other commitments now, but thanks for the offer!

Didn't see Arron Slight but John Key & family were at the pub after, I didn't have time to meet him though, to busy talking about bikes :) Anyway I think he's a National voter.

Mate it was an easy do! Rode the Ambo run, left to drop the lil woman off at work; then on to Hood Airdrome.
The Ambo run was cruisy and a good warm up ride. (Shame there werent that many KB'ers on it though. It is the one charity I would have 'expected' good support for. Its the one service we all want to avoid using, but sadly many of us do.)
Quick snarler and coffee at Thorndon key, drop Vicki off to work (hehe) Then a blast over the Masterton.
All I can say is if you missed it? You MISSED something really special. (Kerry Dukie took over 100 pictures in less than an hour. So maybe if anyones interested contact him for some grear shots).
Ride home was errrrrrrrr intersting, seems Plod has a Mufti?? HSV 6.0SE.

So the 3 of us jumped on the Buell and did the Ulysses ambo ride on saturday,
Was a good turn out but i too was surprised there wasen't more KBers present, after all god forbid were the ones who use this service,
It was alittle amusing when we got there, 3 comments stuck in my mind.....Heard afew....Hi bruce, then there was a couple of...."Is that the bear everyones talking about?" and then the best one was...."oh goodness that bears almost as big as she is" That one really gave bruce and i a good giggle......
Big thanks to Ulysses for putting on this event.....BIG THANKS to the guy who saved Bruce a badge and BIG THANKS also to the guy who said if we didn't get one then he would give us his, You have a heart of gold.
The biggest thanks of all goes to Nasty for letting me have the honor of taking Bruce along with us:hug:
Bruce is more than welcome to ride with us whenever he wants!
Was a good ride enjoyed by all 3 of us

Just wanted to say a great big THANK YOU to all at the ride on Saturday. I had a great time, and am looking forward to next year.
Ken - thank you for taking me under your wing and introducing me to the WIMA women, I suspect I'll not have to ride alone for much longer!!
(Was lovely to see Bruce along for the ride too!)
