Blimey,
just done 4000km's on the VL, running sweet.
Front brakes are getting really squeaky, they still bite ok and dont slip, just wondered if there is anything I should be checking for?
Cheers guys

Loose caliper. Worn or cheap pads. Missing anti-squeal shims or pin backing springs. Rough pad seats on caliper. Non-lubrication of slides (if sliding caliper).
Begin by stripping & cleaning with hot soapy water.

Oil the pads, that'll stop them squeaking LOL!
In a more serious manner - but a can of CRC Contact Cleaner. get the front wheel off the ground so you can spin it. spin the wheel in its normal direction while spraying contact cleaner onto the disk near the caliper and onto the pad surface. That will get rid of any contaminates that may be on the disk or pads.
You may want to remove the pads and give them a light sanding with 180 grit sand paper on the flat surface. This will give you a fresh surface to bed onto the disk. Be aware that your brakes will be a wee bit slower to pull up for the first few times untill they bed in properly
You could chage the pads to a softer compound like EBC black pads for exhample. They have a lower metallic compound which wears the disk less and may not squeak as well.

As funny as it is, I know someone who actually did that.... :bash:
My front wheel had a squeak when the VL250 was brand new, but it went away eventually...maybe first doublecheck whether you only have the sound when braking or at low speed?
