A late start to an afternoon ride ... but it was then, or wait 'till tomorrow. SO... gear up and off. Out of Alex was choice with the sun high and off to my right, and no bother. A few cages about but only a few. Over the hills to Roxburgh, then down to Ettrick. Turned off at The Seed Farm, and over the top through Moa ... Flat ??? (its a bloody great hill).Through to the metropolis of Heriot. Then onto Kelso. A town in name only as the floods removed it from the map quite a few years back. Swinging left then out onto the Tapanui-Raes junction highway. Heading north again. At the Edivale corner, I took the straight-ahead option, heading back to the Moa Flat road... back to Ettrick. Then highway 8 back to Alex. 182 km's on the tripmeter. The whole ride, I never went over 100 km/hr.... often
well ok... a couple... or more times...

After yesterdays ride... I had to do another ride today..... so I did. LUNCH... somewhere. mmmmmmm ... where was the issue. So on with the gear... and gone. First stop the Oturehura pub for a toasted sandwich. (cheese & pineapple... NO onion F.E.) Then off again ... but Not home. HYDE for afternoon tea. A flat white and coffee cake. Then off again to Macraes Flat. (again on top of a bloody great hill ... lol) Easter hours... bar not open... off to Palmerston for gas. Then home over the Pigroot. 335.. km's in all. not too bad an afternoon ride.
1. Looking down the Ida valley looking towards the north.
2. The Brass Monkey Rally site.
3. Downtown Oturehura... rush hour ...
4. Hyde.
5. Stanleys pub at Macraes Flat... pub motto... "While I live I'll crow" A KB sig' if ever there was one...
6. Coming down off Macraes looking out towards Palmerston and out to sea.
