Locked the front going round the corner. Bike's probably a write off. Knee hit a rock hence the damage.

Big thanks to Grant, Charlie and the non KB members who stayed around to sort out the truck and the ambo.

Oh bugger...
Tony, Gary, Robert and myself went past the scene. Saw the bike... Glad to hear your relatively ok mate. Could have been alot worse!
Rest up man.

Ouch! Now use this as your opportunity to wax those skinny wee legs eh?!

Heal up and hope the bike isn't as bad as you might think.

BTW 'The Corner' which corner? Tell me and I shall try to avoid it or at the very least I will just be sure to not brake as I go around it ;)

Gee that looks nasty and you were lucky not to have shattered your knee caps with what your knees hit.
Glad that besides your knees looking worse for wear that you came out of it otherwise unscaved.
I hope you heel up fast and that you manage to get back out there sometime in the near future. Takecare.

Yep I was just stupid. Came around a narrow road and saw a wide car/caravan coming the other way. Panicked and hit the anchors before siting up the bike. I would have been just fine if i did, well, nothing.

You wanna lend ME a bike? :gob: Dont you know my history? Thanks, but I wont be able to bend my knee enough to get on a bike for a little while.
Its not a big problem, as i can work from home most of the time and get a taxi if i really need to be at work.

Don't worry - our insurance premiums and ACC levies can take care of all of that.

13th April 2009, 18:09
Hey dude, so sorry to hear about your off mate. We didn't go with you to the lake, so we ended up going to Martinborough and back through Carterton. In this case an ABS should have let you straighten up and weave pass that caravan huh? Hopefully that knee will work again once you shower it with some booze :sweatdrop.

Heal up

Yea I saw that bike! It was nasty broken looking fence and bike. The wind was crazy strong around those few corners prior to that. Stood me up twice mid corner then I saw the bike on the truck.... I slowed the fark down after that...

I am glad that you are ok dude. Best of luck to a quick heal.

Just the jeans, knee pads would have made a big difference.

I hope you heal soon and there isn't any cartilage, bone or other joint damage. Looks like your knee took quite an impact.

As to some of the others lecturing / being sarcastic, I don't think there is any need for that. Rider recognised his mistake.... I'm glad we don't have an RIP thread here.

Oh yeah, it was on western lake road, the road to lake ferry from featherston.

My least favourite stretch of road in the Wairarapa.. Am i the only one out here who get s the shits going up/down that stretch of road, its nasty, had a close call there with some youths doing a bit of tar-seal rally driving. Is it possibl to petition/request LTNZ (?) or whomever is responsible to get corners widened or paint markings put down?

Or am i just being soft?

Soft!

Its a great piece of road, teaches one to expect the unexpected.

My wife even agrees with me - for once.

I was going to say that looking at those photos hurt me more than it hurt you. Perhaps not.

Good news that there is no serious damage.

A lot of us have had recent bins. Mine was nothing compared with yours. Hope it's not too long before you are back on that horse!

I know how you feel 3 and a half hours for me only to have a doctor squeeze my foot for a min asking where it hurt and then tell me I was fine and could go home. Did they at least give you something for the pain/boredom while you waited?

Id be surprised if anyone bought draggins thinking they would help from an initial impact. Theres a reason I (and most other people) own draggins as well as something more substantive.
