Heyas i want one, for a special reason which some of you may know ;PP wink wink ryan...

Also would be good to tootle round on and try get the missus on a bike and teach her to ride so we can tootle down the river or some such

so anyone have a CT110 or such beastly machine for sale ? know of any for sale ( besides trademe, i look at those ones too, wanna try here! )

dont mind fixing it up if needs be

reg or previous rego'd would be radical for the right price,

Have you considered a new! or newish, Lifan or simnilar?At an average $3-3500 they're a damn good buy and will out perform and last the CG.I had one of those great little bikes and though they were good I've recently bought a 2008 Lifan twin for not a lot of money and tonight I had the wife in a local car park rotating and stopping quite well. She has her learners but wants to get proficient with her starts, stops and gear changes before going on the roads.
Your on the right track I know my Lady is going to have a blast when she gets a bit of time in the seat and gets confident.

You're on the right track with the CT110 (or CT90) - almost indestructible and easy for a learner as they have a centrifugal clutch.

Look on Trade Me, they appear about one a week. There are two variants :

The "agricultural" version (CT110) which has a dual range gearbox. They really do go just about anywhere and are available new at $3995. These have been made from the early sixties, so there are some old and tatty ones around, but most parts are the same as the current model, so no probs there if you want to do a restore. Expect around $1000 for a good one from say 1985-95 with up to 29K kms. Ex-farm hacks come up frequently when farmers swop the CT for a 4-wheeler.

Then there's the ex-NZ Post models (CT110-X) that have more sturdy suspension and are generally beefed up all round compared with the ags. These lack the dual ratio box, but for road and light track work they are better in my opinion because of the better handling. NZ Post's policy is to auction them off at about 30K. Some of these have had a thrashing, but again, parts for a rework are readily available - doesn't take much to get them good again.

Let me know if you go ahead with a CT and want manuals.
