How about putting a picture (or two) up of what you have been up to on your bikes over the weekend.
Unfortunately we all couldnt make the Orongorongo ride but as it was such an awesome day here in the Naki I couldn't resist but go for a ride with my new Partner. Although she does have a licence (she learnt to ride "on a black bike" yonks ago) her more recent riding experience has only been a 20 minute trip to a coffee shop and back with me last November. So to see how she enjoyed a longer ride I managed to borrow all the necessary gear (boots, jacket and a slightly too tight helmet) I even relented and let her wear my BRAND new gloves (even I haven't worn them yet) and we headed up to Mokau for lunch.
To give her a small idea of what riding on gravel is about we detoured down Mimi Road (first picture and please ignore how far back she has got the helmet!!) on the way to Mokau. On the way back I was tempted to turn at Ahititi and go up to Kiwi Rd but thought that for a newbie passenger that might be a bit extreme, so we turned off at Urenui and went down to the beach for an ice cream (second picture).
The good news is that she enjoyed it, the bad news.... now we need to buy all the good gear for her!!
So lets see what the rest of you were up to!!

Now that does sound like a Tui advert! She got her licence more than 20 years ago!

Took the boat and the bike over to the Coromandel for the weekend. :sunny:
The biking bit consisted of 4 hours on sunday afternoon where i went for a looksee around the Whangamata forests. I managed to find some markers from a recent trail ride and started to follow them.
It turned into a full on trail ride type of adventure on 3/4 worn crappy IRC road biased tyres so it was quite challenging.
Managed to stay upright and didnt get lost so it was quite a successfull afternoon. :scooter: pic`s nooo......

Some of my bikes went diving from the dinghy in the weekend.
You can see the speargun on the side of the dinghy below the motor if you try hard enough.

The Varadero just missed a kingfish.
Bet everyone else's bikes were too pussy to do that over Easter.
Bring on the "boat anchor" jokes...

Nice pipe on the enfield. Is it the 350 or 500? I was very close to buying one of those but got the GB instead.
Also what year & model is the silver honda?

"Also what year & model is the silver honda? "
Looks like a mid 1970's XL250 Motosport to me - I owned two of them in my youth.

Well, the questions:
junkmanjoe: no, the kayak is paddle power only, though there is a fitting to add an outboard bracket. I went kayak fishing on Sunday, actually, but none of the bikes could fit on board. Still some good snapper and kahawai about.
Padmei: 1. The Enfield is a 350, made in India, unlike my '51 classic race one. The muffler and pipe are aftermarket ones from the NZ RE importers, but I modified the pipe end to get the proper angle for the muffler. 2. Yep, the silver Honda's a '73 XL250.
Kanny: yeah, it is time we all met up again. If you're going to ride far north, PM me, as we will be at Russell again this weekend. The idea of using Russell as a base for some light adventure rides with KBers is still alive in the back of what passes for my mind.
Cheers
Pete

I like Triboys mention of another Kawhia ride, so we could join that. She hasn't been on the back for any really rough roads yet and of course have to get her some good gear.
