Do you mean the $25 departure tax for international flights? and where are you going to?

Auckland has stopped it, so I would expect that Hamilton have too.

Not exactly the most popular of ripoffs.

Not quite - its in the ticket - you just dont have to pay separately. Pretty much the same as all other international airports now.

$5.00 Surcharge and its got nothing to do with Air NZ, and if any of ya give my wife grief about it when you check in I will knock ya fucking block off, it aint her fucking fault.

Cant believe the rude fucking cunty travellers who seem to think the lady at the check in counter is there to be abused for doing there job................I fucking tell ya one day if Im in there at the right time Im going to deck one of these fuckers.

Still a $5 to fly domestically. It was a surprise to me, but fortunately I had $5.

Odd though. Where did the charge come from?

"airport development charge", hence the shiny new buildings out there... councils think it is a great idea, spreading the cost of development away from solely local ratepayers. The fact that local ratepayers make up the majority of travellers from the local airport....

blame Palmerston North, they thought it up first, and Rotorua have had one for years. The problem is once set up, they never seem to go away

I vent at the girlie working at the place where I have to pay the surcharge; the work at the airport so that's only fair. The airport are being sneaky bastards by making me pay a hidden surcharge.

Air NZ should add this to their webbysite (stating it "aint their fault") and try and shame Hamilhole airport about it. Hamilhole airport should have it on their webbysite. I've heard horror stories of other country bumpkins genuinely not having 5 bucks on them and being unable to fly.

$5 it is. bask in the multi million $$ surroundings while you're there, be amazed at the flash-as coveyor belt, watch the 7 plasmas playing oprah way too loud, and ride the one-way escalator :)

Not sure about the Tron, but I got stung leaving Rotovegas the other day. Only $5 but the fact that they don't tell you about it was a bit of a surprise. :angry2::argh::bash:

On your side 100%. It's like the twats who have a go at the staff of the fines office eh? No point/reason to have a go at them, they are far removed from the invisible wankers who make the rules.

(And before any smart-arses say "it's like the cops who only uphold the laws, they don't make them, so why abuse cops?" I'll pre-empt the question and say that it's got a lot to do with the delivery.)

I've never had anything but polite, professional service from airline staff and fines office staff. Those shows like 'Airport' or whatever it's called often highlight how rude people can be to staff for whatever reason and often the public need a wakeup call.

Go for it dude, knock 'em over.:woohoo:

The best Dentist in Hamilton is in the city. Make sure you collect all your teeth with your broken fingers and place them in a plastic bag. No need for ice.

Palmy has $5 per person get out of jail charge as well.

Plenty of eftpos machines at airports for money,so why take it out on check out people, not their fault, and ffs if going to Aus it has cost you say $7-800 return so why moan at $5.00,the departure tax will be included in ticket so only payment is airport levy.Leaving Sydney is about $100 so I was told.

I don't have a go at the checkout peeps, I have a go at the peeps who collect the money for the airport. Unfortunately I'm not able to vent at the head of the airport so all I've got less are the flunkies. I'm not against the $5, I'm against the sneakyness, the fact that none of the airlines advise you'll be stung an extra charge and that the airports own website say fuck all about it.

Imagine arriving at a trackday and getting told, "oh sorry, there's a $5 surcharge cos Pukekohe are doing upgrades."

But why should they, they arent providing that service, they pay (like you) to use the facility which in this case is the Hamilton airport.

From about now there is no more international travel out of hamilton airport so I guess they have to pay for that multi million upgrade somehow :eek5:

Actually the check-in girls don't do the departure tax now - there is a self-pay eft-pos machine that spits it out. I think the bookshop sells them though if you only have cash.

Not sure though - done nearly 20 trips out this year - haven't paid yet :)

In your case its built into the landing fees, which should also be case for everyone. Building it into the landing fees means the airlines have to include it in the ticket price.
