Introducing the newest Monster family member...'girl puppy'

Currently named Tia but mum says she has too many bad associations with that name...something about 'hoadie bitches'...whatever that means?!

Anyway I'm sure we will pin her new name down in the next couple of days.

She was born 29 Feb and is a spaniel/poodle cross so she doesn't smell and doesn't make me and mum sneeze and wheeze.

 bite me you! Rotties are lovely and we were keen on one but they are just too big for both our house and our boy. He is too jumpy around bigger dogs when they get boistrous so if he gets up this dogs nose at least it won't be able to tear a leg off! :shit:

I can't wait to see how her coat develops actually. So soft and silky and I still can't get over how she doesn't smell at all AND I have been rubbing my eyes hard out trying to provoke my usual allergic reaction and I can't :2thumbsup

Yours no doubt is looking down smiling and saying the same as me "get off your arse and make another as happy as you made me"

YEAH what he said Nudey - but when you are ready only eh. BTW there is a cute as friendly and fun adult boy jack russel at the Wellington SPCA needing for a home. I was really keen on him except for the allergies.

wayyyyyy to cute .. thought you might end up with it .. at first sight huh

I did try valiantly to resist her magnetic pull but the first thing SullyOne said when he clapped his eyes on her... Can we take this puppy home. I love her. This after weeks of looking at puppies and dogs and him not showing interest in any of them! So after an hour of playing with her checking her out and rubbing my face in her fur with no reaction that was it...the owner liked us and waned her to go to us over everyone else that was interested.

In pic 1.......I see its a male dog?......

The coat will probably "harden" up, won't be quite so soft and silky as it is now, but still nice. That is what happens with poodles anyway. Are you going to have a go at clipping her yourself or will you get someone else to do it?

To be honest I have been told that best not to trim her for a while as her coat will settle into wooly ringlets BUT we will see how it develops I think.

Yeah, I'm not too sure what would happen with a poodle X coat. With poodles, it just keeps growing and growing, gets knotty and matted. I imagine spoodles are similar, as that's what stops them from giving allergic reactions - no shedding.

OK, I asked the Poodle Groomer Extraordinaire (AKA my Mummy) and she said wait to see what happens with her coat first, then get her groomed professionally for the first time, then see if you can take it from there.

HOWEVER! I have got SullyOne picking all his toys up and returning them to his room when finished cos I told them Dakota might eat them and that might make her die  what a bad bad mummy! Either way it is working and I have to say I was pretty nervy watching him play with his magnetix today...made sure those remained in their case and were put away nicely.

Actually they are probably going to be donated to her actually - the soles have worn down to the point where they are slippery as hell.

Her fur really great actually...appart from the whole awesomeness of the not shedding and my being not allergic to her, it's also silky and doesn't yet seem to knot or dag.

Need to get better at being brushed though - tends to want to eat the brush and the hand that holds it

MsK I meant to show you a pic of what her coat would look like so see attached of a similar crossbread spoodle.

The one on the left it's baby pic looks like Dakota!

So fur wise I plan to just groom the face and when I have to the bod but if I can get away with it we wnt to let it get long like the attached.
