As wonderful as this clip is, don't make the mistake of thinking that it is genuine.

Shows like this are carefully put together by TV producers who want to produce the maximum emotional impact in their audiences. They don't just let anybody up on stage - they carefully screen all the contestants and know exactly what they're capable of.

Even the way she looks is manufactured. The unkept hair and dress she is wearing would have been selected by the producers to make her look as frumpy as possible.

She has a fantastic voice, but I know enough about the TV industry to disregard the backstory.

Perhaps one should record oneself singing in the shower. Or perhaps not.

There are many books that shouldn't be judged by their covers. Miss Boyle is clearly one such book.

Have you been living under a rock? She's already been exposed as another Paul Potts as BGT was suffering a big-time ratings drop, and there's no money in juggling monkeys (or monkeys that juggle for that matter!)

I'm not a fan of USA Idol but I caught Adam Lambert (yes he is gay) the other night and it would have to be the best performance I have ever seen on the show.

I agree we should never judge a book by its cover until we have read every page and alot of people out there including the judges judged Susan before she opened her mouth and then they were the 1's left with their mouths dropped to the floor once they heard her sing.
She sure does have an amazing voice and i would like to see her win the competition.

Yes I did enjoy her performance however she isn't that good.

I think it is more that you didn't expect such a good voice to come from a scruffy middleaged Scottish lady.

It was even better to see the look of total surprise on the faces of those expecting to have a laugh at her expense. Especially the not so scruffy over rated ones.

Mate - there are not too many people who are pitch perfect thru a whole song

But I still like skankie as well

The irony here is that she got a pretty ordinary voice, certainly polished and professional, but nowt special on for a competition that size.
Good enough to win any local contest but not a national one.
That fact that she's a minger is keeping her in it.
If she was more presentable, she would be out by now.

English Singers do it too.
They may have a terrible brummy or scouser accent, but when they sing Pop they sound like Brittany, and when they rap they sound like Snoop Dog.
