Have I bitten off too much?

Well Ive been cruising around on my new purchase (91 CBR 600) and getting used to two wheels instead of four and loving it!

But as its getting colder im thinking it is a good time to attack some of the much needed bodywork.

The front Fairing has been replaced with a fibre glass mold by previous owner and needs to be strengthened.
Plus a few more scatches.

I also want to (if im still in the mood after the front!) do some alterations to rear end and then paint.

Any tips would be great and I will try to keep you all updated.

If you find that you like doing fiberglass work I've got a set of race fairings you can play with as well :D
I haven't touched them for almost a year... :rolleyes:

I have an 91 CBR 600 as well, my suggestions? well I am going to get a spare taillight off a wrecker, and try and integrate the indicators into the tail light (thus removing the chunky indicators from the rear) but I do have a mate who is a plastic welder that might help me out. Also, get rid of the large square shaped number plate, and get a nice, newer small (oblong) one (to do this, snap your existing plate in half, go to VTNZ, and say it got "damaged" and ask for a replacement plate, takes ten minutes and costs $12 or so, and looks MUCH tidier at the back end!! just my suggestion!!!

Think I have a taillight if you want one. I got a similar mod on mine. Small LED indicators and a small plate. Looks heaps better

So, I managed to scam sunday arvo off and headed for my steed with a socket set in hand.
After taking to the fairing's she looks like something off mad max, and Im thinking... am I going to pull this off??

My latest spend was some fibre glass and after 3 nights of reading the back of the can I decided this was my time to shine!

Helpfull tips

1, dont get it on your hands. - Done, and now everything sticks to them.
2, dont mix up to much. - Done, mixed up to little.
3, arghh who cares just have a play. - DONE

A day later and 4 out of 5 jobs seem to be looking ok-goodish! the 5th isnt that bad though so pretty chuffed with myself!

Now im looking around the house thinking... what can I glass now!!

What sort of prices for the fibreglass? Got a few projects that could use it :)

I went round a few Boat shops and there is a few glass repair kits with all you need in them, so I just brought all ingredients seperate and it ended up more for less so stoked with that. I paid about $60 and have almost enough to paper mache a small elephant!!

I later went to repco and saw cheaper kits but also smaller.

Its not that hard to play with, touch wood as end result will be the judge!!

You can do it in photoshop or just change the size on your camera. Keep me updated with the mods, looking forward to see how it looks

About 2/3 down on the right hand side is an image resizer ! Download that and in future you just rightclick on a pic and resize picture (medium is a good size on here !)
