Looking pretty sharp.

Should keep the price around (or maybe under) $NZ18-20k I reckon.

North America has always had a special relationship with Triumph because of the spirit that Triumph represents. Like the motorcycles themselves, people who ride a Triumph tend to be quietly confident and have a distinctive sense of style that never goes out of fashion.

Yeah Right!

Thought it was a dog in the first shots I saw and still feel the same way. It's clear what market they're going for and it's just not up to the job. Victory offer a good alternative to a H-D but this 'plastichrome' pig with that shit looking rear fender (what were they thinking?) just isn't going to do it. A bigger Bonnie might have been the way to go (like a new version of the Thunderbird Sport).

Anybody know if final assembly for NZ bound bikes is in the UK or, like the Bonnie, Thailand?

Is this a Triumph or a Thaiumph? i.e. is it going to me made in Triumph's Thailand factory?

It's the first Triumph ever that has got me interested,at under $20k it becomes a real alternative to HD. I shall see how it does in the road tests but on looks alone I'm very tempted.

Alan Cathcart has given the pre production bike good wraps in motorcycle trader.
Still not my cup of English tea, but ya got to give Triumph kudos by again doing things "their" way. ie, not knocking out another V Twin clone cruiser like every other fecker.

You can have one of these for $27,000 on the road. Worth a test ride before you commit to the Triumph.

Hey Molly, great photos. They all look great when they are clean and shiney.

I think that Triumph has the trusted marque new bike image over HD at the moment.

I frequent AMPS to perve over the new bikes and I must say that I don't believe that HD have received just credit for their great styling improvements over the past few years. Triumph do very well in the USA. I recon it is a lot to do with the English sounding name and their perceived class status. A Kawasaki, however good will never be able to achieve the same. Also, it is the perceived old against new and improved. It is a bit like BMW in Germany. Triumph's sell loads in Germany there for similar reasons.

At around $25k the T-Bird looks a bit too pricey to me. Like with my Tiger; wait for the NZ$/US$ to go back to >80c and then import one :-)

It won't be under $20k as pointed out earlier. It's $US1200 dearer than the S3 and that's $20k here.

Just going on the ops guesstimate of $18-$20k nz but around the 20 mark is still good and I'm still interested, $23 ish and up and it will have to compete with several Harleys. That will make it a tougher call for me.

Time will tell eh.

I've ordered mine, Street n Sport told me 22K - 24K, but will ultimately depend on exchange rate at the time. The extras are what's worrying to think about (aftermarket pipes? & other goodies). Anti lock brakes are another option to consider, and I hear they will have a 1700cc kit (not to mention the dozens of chrome add ons)

I have a mate in Dunsandel that makes polished stainless steel racks, saddlebag supports, crash bars etc. (mostly) for Triumphs. He sells shitloads into the US and Europe and undercuts Triumph on their overpriced chrome tat. If you go with this bike and want some tig welded QUALITY parts making up, I'll put you in touch.

sounds good, my current Triumph has some non original pannier rails which I bought through the local dealer. I think they were made locally, but not sure where.

Molly

He usually sells direct rather than through dealers as far as I know so doubt yours will be from his workshop. He did say he wanted to start making them for the America / Speedmaster range and was going to borrow one to get that underway.

Far as I know there were 3 containers coming, total of 50? bikes. I think the black ones (like mine) might be all gone, but there are some two colour ones left (far as I know)

Yeah I heard the 50 were pre sold, and there were also demos for the dealers.
I've also got a black one ($600 cheaper, should cover half the insurance cost) ordered back in April. Been without my America for about 5 or 6 weeks now. Getting withdrawal symptoms.

Ditto here. I got an invite to the party and left the picture of the bike on the table so the folks could give it to my nephew (2yo and loves Trumphys:yes:). Turns out the old man saw it and fell in love. He's bugging me to go to the party so he can come!!!

I think he was chuffed when I turned up on my new bike and it was a triumph since he had one in his younger days. Would be good to get him out on 2-wheels again, especially on Her Majesties Steed.

So has anyone got a firmer price idea or are we still thinking around the mid-20's?

Me too! I liked it better in the flesh than the promo photos. But a close friend rode a demo on a poker run, and found the heel of his boots worn out hitting the ground on corners. :shit:

Steel heel caps fix that and make sparks.
