Hi - I'm planning on coming down for the Monkey this year - last attended in early '80s on my XL500 at the time - so yes I'm an old fart!
Keen to do as much gravel as possible on the way South on Thursday and Friday 28/29 May (and the Sat 30/5) and was wondering what the Dunstan Trail is like for large pigs like my 1150GS - conscious it could be covered in snow at that time.
I've done the Black Forest Station and Dansey's and may include them again this time.
Welcome helpful comments - cheers Aslan aka Stephen O

The Dunstan trail should still be in rideable condition in early June, except for the locked gates at either end of the Clarks Junction to Parau section. Paerau - Poolburn is more likely to be affected by snow if we have any that early, but I believe the gates all remain unlocked.
The Brass monkey is held so early in the season that there is only a very small chance of snow, and any that does fall is unlikely to remain for long. July is the most likely time for the trails to be closed due to snow.
