I was amazed how noisy the full fairings make the engine.
I took the fairings off the GSXR today to do some maintenance , and took it for a run without fairings. It was noticeably quieter, it seems that the fairings magnify every little chain tensioner, tappet noise etc the motor makes and sends it up to the rider, amplified.
Anyone else noticed this?

Well i guess it is effectively channeling the noise in a direction ?

My guzzi hasn't got a fairing and I can hear absolutely every thing inside that engine turning, whirring, clanking and clunking. Best sound in the world IMO.

I've got glass fairings on mine, they've got a noisy top end as standard so they do make a fair racket.

Not sure if its less without fairings though, I've ridden mine with and without a fair bit and didn't notice. Maybe if I looked for it. :) You can hear the camchain on them though, or at least I can (and mines new).

Yeah that's what I can hear the most when the fairings are on cam chain noise, not too bad but certainly you can hear it.
I might look at the tensioner, might need replacing!
