View Full Version : Kirby (company) and how it works

i was thinking this weekend.
got chased on the northern by a dude on a gixxer after i snuck up and hit his kill switch for no reason, the following chase gave me time to think about the company KIRBY/qce
if you end up working here, understand this.
in the company, the higher the staff turnover, the better they do.
with close to 100% markup, their products are overpriced.
As a ex VM (team manager basically) i have seen no end of DPB and Dolies buy these, even though they are barely able to pay for it.
the door to door offer of a free carpet shampoo seems good, but as some of you know, your really in for a guilt trip laden demonstration (if its done properly)
the way the staff turnover issue works is that to "practice" they get you to practice selling on family members and friends in your demo weekend (first weekend)
that is where they get their family members to bite the bait and then they can pressure them to buy using "special offer" and the demonstrator as leverage.
they are asked to buy because it will help you, its all done via phone.
after your demo weekend it goes to 100% commission working on a van (usually) doing about 80 hours 6 days a week.
they usually dont keep people for more than 2 months.
even 1 is a long time.
if you want to make a living become a VM as fast as you can, cause your not paid on commission only.
PM me if you have any questions

Totally of topic but that reminded me of a funny story.
I guy I know of got a job in some shithouse situation like that and was working stupid hours to get less than the dole.
He travelled about a bit and ended up in Gisborne.
Some youfs tried to rob him and his mate as they were walking down an alley.
He was selling knives.
One of the would-be thieves got a free one but he had to take it home in his thigh.
Stupid dickheads even knew he was selling knives because he had tried to sell them to the retards earlier.

Hey I've had one of them "we'll clean your carpet for nothing things"
Yep wife and I got a demo, some hot chic came around and did the demo thing... Cheapest and fastest carpet clean I've ever had done!
It all ended up on the phone with some dude, I simple said over and over again..
"Man for 6k I can buy another bike and ride it on the road"
I added in there somewhere "You want me to spend $6k on a silly little over priced sucker thing I can only ride around the lounge? (was a good laugh)
Needless to say, hot chic got the shits and cleaned the carpet as fast as she could so she could bail, I took in as much of the sights on offer as I could, given the limited time now left.
As for wife she just looked on.. not impressed with the early evenings entertainment :)

Yeah my sis' boyfriend tried working for them. He didn't sell any, because as I saw it nobody in their right mind would pay that kind of dosh to keep the carpet clean, hell my last flatmate and I didn't even have a vacuum cleaner, we'd just sweep the house hehe. When he was explaining it to me. It didn't add up at all. Kirby take advantage of young people, they need to be burnt. Some people are really susceptible to things like network marketing and this. If they can't answer all your questions or give dubious responses, then keep walking.

I let one of them in my house years ago, tried telling the stupid bint we did not have carpet but she was adamant she was going to clean it for me. Gave up in the end and opened the door to her.
You dont have carpet anywhere? Nope. Got any friends that might be interested? Piss off!

I had a young "thought he was smart" little wanker turn up home & do his "Sales Mans" pitch on the missus once, She told him she would like to think about.. he called back the following evening & was greeted by me at the front door with his little sucker machine :angry2: thankfully there was no need for the :Police: but unfortunately he did require :doctor: assistance for the drive home

I've been on the receiving end of one of these sales tactics after my wife was sucked in one time. The guy on the phone kept saying it was the rolls royce of vacuums. I told him I didn't drive a fucking roller so why would I want the vacuum equivalent.Pushy sales tactics really piss me off :angry2:

surely, the workings of a vacuum cleaner is easy: Notice dirt, direct servants to remove dirt, servants use vacuum cleaner. what could be simpler?
