Bugger. Their website is still up http://www.wildwesthonda.co.nz/ but don't go doing any credit card purchases! ;-)

Might be gone the same way Phil Turnbals was done here in Palmy.

I was keeping a list on an earlier thread - the fun (if it was ever there) has gone right out of it

Poor management will kill any business, as it has done to both of these. Phil Turnbull must be horrified to see the thriving business he sold turn to crap, with his name still over the door!
As credit gets tighter I expect we'll see a few more dealers go before the dust settles, all the more reason to support your local dealer - if they're any good!

Hmmm.

Is Honda pricing themselves out of the market?

A new one is priced out of mine now!

Despite being high quality, world class bikes there is a public perception that Jap bikes should be cheaper than the European offerings.

A new CB1000R is priced the same as a Speed Triple or a HD Sporty thingy. 600 Hornet & Street Triple or new Monster? If I had the dosh for a new naked bike .........

Suzuki NZ are holding their prices down .... for how much longer though.

A 600F Hornet is $1k more than a Streety.

Madness.

Buggar shit and damn Don is a good guy and will continue to be.
RIP Wild West

I did a cirlce burnout outside the door before they changed my tyres once after a few :apint: and filled the whole place with tyre smoke. Don just laughed sounds like good management to me

And just when I had found a good group to ride with, had a great ride with them about 3 weeks ago.

Yup they went into liquidation last week. Real sad as they were a great bike shop family. They will be badly missed. I loved dropping in and chatting to them, sadly though they didn't get the right bike in for me to buy.

But being local they were damb handy to drop in for services and the like.

They had lots of neat things like 10% off, free tyre presure and chain lube, Sunday rides.......... :bye:

Quite gutted.

They're a great bunch of people and always helped me out.

WWH was great for those of us who were (circa) local - a bike shop where we didn't have to go all the way into town.

They'll be missed...

Freebies and "good" deals mean that the shop is not making a profit.

If the shop does not make a profit, it goes out of business.

It is no coincidence that "expensive" enterprises in any line tend to stay in business, in tough times and easy.

Toby Beadle, who was the mechanic at WWH, has restarted his own buisness. So if you are wanting the same quality support in mechanical service give him a call.

Don and Amanda are definitely good sorts!
Definitely a shame to see them go!!

And now not having a Honda dealership in our neck of the woods kinda sux too!

Didnt know Phil Turnuill was having troubles. That place was one of my haunts when I was younger :)

I went to WWH for most of my biking needs, but only because they were local.

The way i've been treated there time and time again, i'm brutally, honestly not surprised they went under.

It's a shame none the less.

Thanks for that. Followed Toby and Lewis from Henderson M/c's to WWH they were both very good to me, even though I never had a Yammaha or a Honda, they always seen me right with my err... unusual requests.

Anybody know where Lewis has gone to work now?

I have been back to Henderson M/C's since the changeover and was not impressed with a lot of things. Where to out west then?

Sharry

I think you might have to contact Toby to find Lewis. Henderson is the only other bike shop I am aware of in the west.

In my search for a bigger bike, I must have visited most of the dealers in Auckland. Of them, Don was certainly one of the nicest and most helpful. Tiz a shame...
