View Full Version : Who do I moan to about traffic lights?

This morning I was lucky enough not to have leave for work until around 10am. I pulled up to the lights at the T intersection of Cuba St and the Petone Esplanade in the RH lane turning right onto the Esplanade. I had to stop as they were phasing into red as I got there, there was no other traffic in my lane.

So...you guessed it, I waited and waited and waited and once the lights had phased for the 3rd time having changed colour for every other set of lights except the ones I was at I turned around and rode down Jackson St.

A few years back I had it happen as well. I know it's something to do with the sensors or something. It was bloody annoying! So who do I give some "feedback" to?

There are some threads in here abut this issue, my search ability is pathetic. No doubt someone will remember what thread you need and post a link.

Thread also says fair bit about making sure bike is indeed on the cut up rectangle were the sensors are pu in (under) the tarseal...

Someone on KB came up with a large magnet type solution so that the sensors can recognise your bike.

no point complaining if you didn't park over them correctly

Eat more pies, it does help

I carry a couple of large sheets of roofing iron for just this sort of problem. However, on windy days I've been shot out of the air a couple of times.

Just make sure you stop directly over the sensors. Its usually, the little line right up the middle of the lane, or, there's one just either side .....left or right. I suggest stopping directly in the center so that no ones tempted to siddle up beside you in their cage. They are quite obvious once you know what you're looking for.

I read somewhere that putting your kickstand down can help. haven't tried it myself - no lights up here:woohoo:
