Just as a side note...

I commute 100k each weekday rain or shine, when it comes time for a ride for leisure I can not be screwed spending the money and time riding in the rain as the fun factor reduces by more than half for me. Will be going for some kind of ride tomorrow :sunny: we'll see what happens.

Wicked day. Meet up with like 50 bikes at Autobahn, found some SMC guys on the side so we waited for the big groups to bugger off while we were trying to find out where Sam was. In true SMC fashion Sam and Gavjn were at Autobahn Bombay on the other side of the motorway hahahaha! And then Jafa messages me saying "Screw study, I'll catch you guys up!" so I told him we were heading to Paeroa then Waihi then Whanga etc etc.

So off we went to Paeroa, where I pulled over to grab a bike part from a guy. Sam passes me waving and sticks with the group. So then I head to Waihi to meet them again for lunch. Find them all at a bakery and apparently they've lost Sam. WTF there were no turn offs or anything and he was behind them!

Finally hear from Sam and he's saying I'm at Whangamata and heading to Whangerei now, wtf how'd you get past the other guys?! Then I hear from Jafa, I'm at Tairua and heading to Coroglen for lunch, WTF why'd you go there?!

So we continue, btw the group is me, Ewen, Kim, Big Al, Max (I think), Gavjn (didn't get your name). Boost along towards Whangamata and come across a crash from one of the other groups that were at BP I think, heaps of bikes there. Apparently he was all good so we continued. Boost to Whangamata, then over the hill to Kopu, then on our merry way home.

In true SMC fashion once again, the group splits up (due to speeds), I turn off to Miranda as I thought that was the plan but as I was turning I saw them still on the main road, ah well maybe I can catch them by cutting this way!

Funnily enough I pull outta the Miranda turn off onto what used to be the main rd, then the new highway tells me to turn left then right to hit the highway to Aucks. Just about to turn down there and Al and Gavjn pop up from my left, MINT I beat them hahaha :p. They wanna head a different way than the main highway so off they go. I jump on the main highway and end up passing Ewen and Kim etc on the side of the road randomly so gave them a big wave and cruised home.

So that was that, a nice ride down the bottom half of the coro in beautiful weather with a good bunch of guys. SMC ride wins/fails again!

I was following you lot and went straight through waihi without seeing anyone. CBF stopping AGAIN anyway so didn't bother going back for another look and just continued on to meet up with Jafa.
We waited at coroglen for seriously two hours waiting for you lot to catch up. Gave up waiting and left. :) Good burger though, had a chat with a bunch of other bikers about the two ZX6R's that crashed.

I did the whole loop with..forget his name...guy with black Hyundai GT250R...had one little moment when the rear locked up into a bend...no way close to the cruiser I was following..he went all over the place.

The entire time I told everyone I was doing BP - Paeroa - Waihi - Whangamata - Kopu - Home... Lol dunno what your guys' problem with that is. I did that cause I had to pick something up from Paeroa, AND Jafa you said you weren't gonna come today, and then when you did you went the wrong way!

If people had actually met up with us earlier I may have considered doing the full thing, but no way am I gonna go on a wild goose chase around the coro.

I had a mint ride. 5 hours of awesome road was good for me, hey you only did the half coro too anyway Jafa :bash:

Well as the original organisers of the coroloop did not turn up and we were left behind by the other groups .....the remaining team decided we wanted something different hence decided to take an alternative route down paeroa waihi etc....some good roads there....just gave the bike a clean and fresh oil.....

Yeah I think people just had shit to do ay. I was planning Sat for the full coro and Sun for the jobs/study but that kinda got screwed cause of Sat. I'm happy to do a full coro at last minute if I have nothing on, usually it's you blokes (hint Stephen hint) that "Can't be fucked coming all the way South just to get to the coro" :bleh:

I wanna plan a 2-day coro with an overnighter at Pauanui at the batch, but I dunno if I can organise it this time of year as the weather gets too crappy!

The guy that was using my st had triple by pass , so it was to much for him to do full loop so we shot straight to Kopu and I have told some of you that and I point to the one that following as to turn to Ngatea, but you follow as to Kopu . From Kopu we cut over hill to Coroglen and again some of you decide to go that way , so what happened to group that gone to Waihi we were at Coroglen for more than hour.

I did the whole loop with..forget his name...guy with black Hyundai GT250R...had one little moment when the rear locked up into a bend...no way close to the cruiser I was following..he went all over the place.

I always have one wee moment on coro...downhill and rear locked....I rarely use the front on the twisties prefer to use rear and throttle but for some reason I touched the front lightened the rear and hey presto..trick is not too panic...

Yep we had a good ride back...that Toyota of yours goes well plus you have youth on your side...we had a nice but not crazy pace and we got home which is important when others had a few bins.

This is the problem with posting shit on KB.

Look at the angles - the rider has a good wide view, and the ute is tight on the line as he approaches the bend - it looks to me like the ute has waved the bike through - but the camera angle makes it look much tighter than it is. I know that rider, he's a very very good rider, and in many years of riding with him, I've never seen him take an unnecessary risk.

And Raj, before you cast stones about other peoples riding - there was a fucktard on an R6 with a stupid looking pipe, and his head up his ass, who drifted into the bus lane without checking (a few weeks ago). You almost took me and scoot out, but luckily, I realise that R6 riders are the same mental age as the tossers who drive WRX's with baseball caps facing back and baggy pants...

Funny thing is, even after you almost took me out, I don't think you realised anyone was behind you... Are your mirrors folded in so you can see how cool you look? :2thumbsup

Raj, bless your cotton socks - not angry at all. But you did a poor lane change for someone who can ride... I'm not as good as you clearly are, I'm just a humble Gixer rider, so I'm not sure why it's bad that I wear my cap facing forward...

A year or so ago, I was behind Mstriumph - she was passing a ute on a long straight, when knobhead in a 4wd decides to pull onto the main road right in front of all the oncoming traffic. Mst being halfway through the manouvre cranked up the FZ...from behind, I was waiting for the impact and the flying debris.....but....later....she said there was actually quite enough room to get past, from her perspective!
I was already arranging the funeral service in my head from behind

So a case of people riding outside their limits then. Being able to read a corner is a rudimentary skill that all people should know. It's not hard to enter a corner at a speed slower than you think you could make it around at.

Fortunately the crap handling of my bike has forced me to be a much more sedate rider. I'm not perfect, but the guy I mentioned was putting himself (and you) in far more danger than what I would consider acceptable.
