Ok KB, where to? Going to take off for a short oliday very shortly, can only sneak away for 3 days so where to? Obviously a shortish driving distance would be preferred.

Suggestions please?

This time of year Rotorua is a good call, loads to do and see, the I centre can get you a room with your own spa pool (not bath) for peanuts. Quad biking, tramping and all the usual smelly sights.

Yeah that's one possibility :niceone:

www.wotif.com is also a good source of bargain deals for accommodation :msn-wink:

I have no idea where you live, but I'd recommend the Coromandel - we were there last month and it was just perfect. Or what about the Bay of Islands?

It depends on what you like doing - Wellington is good for a short break and the Monet exhibition is on until 17 May.

I hear there is a lovely place in Palmerston North that doesn't allow any riffraff...assuming of course that you aren't one. :dodge:

Taradise = our location.

Yeah Coromandel is awesome, love it there. Any suggestions on where to stay? Want something nice, with a spa in the room preferred. Probably not much outside of Whitianga like that? Will ave a sniff around a bit on that one :niceone:

She just came back from Wellington, went to see the Monet exhibition.

Not sure how much accommodation would be (maybe a little excessive) but I stayed in Pauanui over the summer and it was pretty cool! Mini golf, a little theatre, beautiful beach, the hill you climb up for incredible views...
Not as far up as whitianga either.

No worries

It was a bit wanky when I was there, kids with there trust funds, driving daddy's fancy car (not to mention trophy wives haha), but I think now summer is gone you wont see so much of that and it would be very chilled out and still a lot warmer than this end of the country!

Yeah neither of us are into that crap but at the end of the day, that doesn't really effect me, just don't pay any attention or buy into it.

We stayed at Puka Park Resort but wouldn't recommend that - not because it wasn't lovely (it was) but because it cost $1000 for the two nights! NO, we did not pay for it ourselves, I won the weekend away but a few days later they managed to charge it to our credit card (refunded TWO weeks later) so we know how much two nights' accommodation for two, two breakfasts, two lunches, one dinner and two massages cost!

Never heard of Taradise - assume by Googling that it's Taranaki?

That's the one :msn-wink:

Yeah don't need to spend that much for a bed :oi-grr:

Vegas is looking like the go me thinks. Been sniffing around on www.wotif.com, some great deals.

Here's the plan so far....

Drive to Vegas Friday, stay at the Rydges Resort Hotel, cocktails, dinner, more cocktails (hiccup), spa, happy times

Saturday, weather permitting, visit a bike dealer & take a sports tourer for a "demo" for an hour or so then get messy quad biking, hit the luge, spot of lunch, wind tunnel, bungy jump etc followed by a rinse & repeat of Friday night.....smashing :niceone:

That place isn't really the Coromandel, it's just a sterile bolt hole for Aucklanders:bleh:. Have a look at the Anchor Lodge website in Coromandel town or one of the lovely little bush cabins like http://www.celadonmotel.com/.

The town website is here:http://www.coromandeltown.co.nz/index.htm. Lots to do and some great eateries. That's why we live there (apart from riding the Loop when I like, haha)

Ok if you end up in Rotas, <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Fenton+St&daddr=Galatea+Rd+to:Tahuna+Rd+to:SH+30+to:Te+Teko+ ++Rd+to:East+Bank+Rd+to:Thornton+Rd+to:Braemar+Rd+ to++:Braemar+Rd+to:SH+30+to:-38.134557,176.281128&hl=en&geocode=FYb-uf0dfGuBCg%3BFaPSuP0dBGeKCg%3BFW56uv0d2H-JCg%3BFYGdu_0d4bGJCg%3BFXgyvP0dUgCKCg%3BFR_7vP0dJ2 OKCg%3BFUNVvf0dQ8qKCg%3BFWoOvf0dg_yICg%3BFY7UvP0du _GICg%3B&mra=dme&mrcr=4&mrsp=9&sz=9&via=2,4,5,8&sll=-38.175592,176.734314&sspn=0.902519,1.768799&ie=UTF8&z=9">here</a> is your afternoon ride. It's probably about 2.5 hours. You can turn left at Te Teko and head back if you want to shorten it by about 40mins.

Rotas, Murupara, Tahuna siding, east bank road, Braemar road, The Rotomas, the lakes, back to Rotas. It's an awesome tour or peg-scraper - whatever you want it to be.
