View Full Version : Another open letter to MNZ, non 'valid' classes

OK so perhaps it doesn't seem important for the sideshowclasses to be included in MNZ publications. But our money should be as good as anyone elses.
Before you say why don't you put a stamp on it & send it? I'm ahead of you there, it's in the mail with full name address etc.

I suspect it will be ignored, but after over 20 years you get a bit sick of it all.

Another letter to MNZ

Hello

Thank you for the recent Annual report, although I do note that I received two copies for some reason.

I quickly turned to the 2008 Champions section to see if, like last year, the F5 & F4 classes had been ignored again. Also to see if the NZ50cc open GP had been recognised, having been run for the first time in years in 2008.

Whilst maybe not as glamorous as Beach racing or the 7-11 year olds Trail class, it does seem that someone in MNZ is specifically not including the smaller road race classes in these reports.

One wonders if MNZs remit is to promote the safe fun sport of motorcycling for all competitors, or just to promote those that they foresee gaining some sort of glory for the organisation, perhaps overseas. F4/F5 obviously suffers from not being a valid class in the eyes of our governing body.

Incidentally I note with some amusement that, of the Six different names in the Road Race branch of the results (ok I didn’t include sidecars); Four of them were, or are, bucket racers.

Makes you think.

Lol. I don't wanna turn Daves very relevant thread into a pissing contest, him Malcolm and Andrew all know I have nothing but the highest respect for them and their chosen class of racing.

But to answer your question, more crashing than racing. But yeah, I've turned a couple of laps in my time. No back to bed for you sonny, there's a good lad.

(One of you good mods wanna delete this and my previous post please so Dave can get on with the issue raised, feel free)

I didn't get an annual report from MNZ but what about mini motos? Are they mentioned?

Not sure but I thought they'd require licencing by now, there must be enough of them out there.

We got 0 copies, so maybe they are trying to balance out the overall numbers.

What would be interesting to know is the number of F4/F5 racers compared to the other classes these days.

Hmmm, still waiting for a copy of the rule book I paid for when I renewed my competition licence. Despite numerous emails, and replies apologising for the delays still havent had one turn up.

Buckets4Me

F4 fielded a full field at the Taupo Road Race Spectical
and if I remember only a handfull fell of
can any of the other classes say the same ?????? :girlfight:
45 bikes with spares waiting to race now that would be nice to see in the super bike class
or f2 or f3
or pro twins
or sidecars
:dodge:

you get the point and they compleatly ignore us

F5 Dave
24th April 2009, 13:27
Well lets be honest ones doesn't go down to the pub & puff out his chest saying he races a 100cc bike. I'm not trying to compare oneself to larger classes or dirt classes (which are considerably stronger than road racing but let's not start off down there).

Just blowing off a bit of steam as a increasingly cantankerous increasingly aging man.:pinch:

I'm with Dave 100%

As far as I can ascertain, buckets are possibly the most active class in road racing (except maybe for clubman? Are they a national class?) Does anybody have any stats? There are a helluva lot of bucket races every month and the fields are large......

I'd be interested in compiling some numbers, MNZ must take a whole lot of license and event cash from the bucket community......... for what? life insurance if someone dies which I don't think has ever happened.......

Are the Wellington and Hawkes Bay events MNZ sanctioned?

The Cliffhanger Hillclimb organisers tell me that they sent the 2008 cliffhanger results through to MNZ twice, then when asked for them again, they referred MNZ to the website results directly.

So f*ck knows what happened and why they weren't published - I assume that Cliffhanger Promotions will follow up, but its too late now - the report has been published.

p.s. I'm not anonymous, I'm Dean Bentley.
