One day I would like to add a classic to the garage....
There are some good buys around, not in the position to do anything about at the moment, but if I were, these are three I would choose from. Probably end up with the 750. Ah fuck, win lotto and get all three....

Surely it's worth at least twice that.

Could own all three for $15K +
There were two RD's on TM for a while, I saw one in those colours on the back of a trailer up this way a few months ago.

I am a daily surfer of the "Classic and Vintage" part of tardme. That RD has been for sale for a year... started at $6k+
it seems very few have got the money now to plunk down on this sort of stuff. Theres an RD400F on there at present too. And a couple of 750 F1's
and someone paid $5k for a 750F2 a week or so ago, which I thought was super cheap.

That's still prolly more than it cost new? I think my CB500 was $1750, but it was a long time ago...

I do miss the old T500, it was a '73 model. First modern bike after my BSA B31. Faster than a Ferrari at the time for the quarter.

Back in '97 I had a really tidy XS750 Special. Loved it but it was using oil and I didn't realise it until I seized it! Bike cost me $1800 and a new crank was going to be $2,200.00! I sold it for parts to a guy down below New Plymouth around the coast a bit. He got it running, or rather built one out of two and sent me pics of it.

Nice, the special wasnt my thing but good on him.Way back i remember going to Hollands Honda in CH-CH with the old man, there was a silver XS750,3/1 bikini fairing outside and i fell in love .:girlfight:hey i was a kid.Bought mine awhile back in a very sad state, reduced hours at work/mortgage blah blah havent seen much progress, same goes for the 650 although thats in a bit better nick, they both will be restored to there former glory.

Then look at mine and make me an offer I can't refuse, hold it for 10 or 15 years and it too will be a classic.

Christ on a crutch, I can just barely admit I'm scraping by without a 5 axis CNC mill, how can you possibly survive?
Do you have plumbing?

The whole Classic Bike theory is a bit difficult for me to comprehend.
I put it down to folks reviving their early riding experiences, discarding the frustrating/annoying parts of it. Polishing the memories with embellishments of great moments in time, and selling it on for more than it is worth.
Fortunately, their are naive buyers that will buy into it.
The closest I can get to appreciating some bikes of past era's, were their styling, and the cacophony of noise, and aroma's that the machines made.
Sort of like what anorak wearing train spotters experience, as ol steam trains hiss and spew wood smoke into the atmosphere.
Occasionally a ride on a great road, in perfect conditions, with good mates and wine, women, and song would get you close to a classic time. But the rest was just riding. (which is still a great way to go through life).

I used to ride round on a 350 no clutch no brakes was just a beaten up paddock basher.
A mate had a 750k when we were younger, I used to take that out when he got his gpz, nice bikes handled well.

Probably when was the pic taken would be a better question, I might have to go for a dig through my back catalogue seeing those pics.
