Was working in ChCh this week, took Mummy out for dinner on Wednesday.
During the evening bought a round of drinks. I thought it was $15.30
Cost me $15,030
Credit card Co rang me today as the pub owner had noticed the Transaction and wanted to reverse it...
Holy shit that would have been a hard one to explain to Mrs Xgnr...

LOL that would have been an expensive round of drinks.
Always check it! Went into the two dollar shop the other day and brought 3 butterfly nets for the kids, and the little eftpos machine came up with the amount of 75.00. Caught it, but it now makes me check everytime I put do an eftpos transaction.

Gee I know we are going thru a recession but who wants to be charged like that for a round of drinks. It always pays to check you receipts when using either credit card of ept pos as mistakes can easily happen and it looks like big 1's at that.
I hope those who you bought drinks for enjoyed them?.

Many of the customers we serve never check the reciept, have seen dishonest staff add a drink or pie to sales and many never pick it up. Question how many check receipts off againist bank statement or credit card, I know I do!

I have sometimes split the keys on the pin pad and added an extra "0" to an amount...but I usually check it myself before I hit the enter button - and correct when necessary...
For those behind the counter like me, it pays to keep your eftpos receipts. I had a guy get me to supply him with a bottle of Dom Perignon for $240. Three months later he rings up and says I have overcharged him by $50. I got him to come in with his statement. Yep, it shows $290 charged against the account. FORTUNATELY I still had the eftpos slips from that particular day. I ratted round in the drawer, found the month's slips, found the correct day's data and sorted the particular transaction. Which showed he had pulled out $50 in cash...(always use the "purchase plus cash" option!!). I showed him this...he acts real surprised..."Oh! I forgot about THAT!!!". Yeah. Fucken likely I thinks...needless to say he has never been back. I wonder how much money he has scammed off like that? Not many people would have the paper trail to show him to be a lying fucking thief I bet...

i knew of a person who used to work in a bar in town and would occasionally add an extra zero for fun. only to the drunkest customers of course. What a prick... it doesnt even sound fun?

I won a luxury weekend away recently and had to hand over my credit card for them to swipe for anything not covered (drinks, etc). When we checked out I paid the $38 we owed and we went on our merry way. Husband calls me from work later that week to ask if I had put anything on the card - I said I'd put $99 on for some advertising and he said "no, this is closer to $1000!" The resort had charged us for the weekend away, a total of $975! Took them two weeks to sort out even though I rang up immediately. They reckoned the card number provided by the travel agent didn't work and when they rang her, SHE gave them our credit card number. Considering we have no idea who booked the travel as it was done through the company who offered the prize, this is bullshit. We never even spoke to anyone from the travel agent so how she managed to come up with our correct card number just by guessing is pretty impressive! I think the most logical explanation is that they tried the number they were given and when it didn't work, they used our number as it would have been on file. Luckily for them the credit came through in the same month as the charge so we weren't charged any interest, but they would have been paying it if we had been.

Years ago my girlfriend missed a car payment, so it was my job to go up town and get a bank cheque and post it off. So I wander in, write out personal cheque, collect bank cheque, walk out with brain in neutral as ya do.. read cheque.. hrm too many zeros on that for sure - thats odd. Read again, and thats a bank cheque for uhhh 15 mill.... uhhhh 15 million, uhhh /me counts the zeros again, yeah 15 million dollars, thats right.
I took it back. :slap:

Bought a pie and drink cost $55.00 on a Friday arvo, found out when I tried to withdraw cash from machine on the Monday there was insufficient funds, bank was open so asked for a print out,saw the mistake at shop.Went back and asked if their banking was out,yep she said, hadn't found where though,I said about $49.50 yep so showed them my statement showing $55.00 instead of $5.50,she was happy to credit me.
Also had a mate who I did house sitting for and his ma in law, they bought me a clothes voucher, but mate said his wife thought they had only payed $1.35 but alas the shop realised and added rest of balance to her visa, also told her they were doing it,but if it had been eft pos debit not credit card they might have got away with it.
