I am in middle of getting a small SR250 back on the road (go in to Community at the top, click on "Social Groups" and then "Customs and Projects" for full story), and my yougest was sitting watching me work away on her. He watched me take bits and add to the bike and slowly she was materialising in fron of his eyes. He did not say much, just sat there watching his old man work away.

When I used a small paint brush and some paint to do a little touch-up it all came together in his little head. A smile went across his face and he declared: "You are just like an artist. You build it with your hands and then you paint it!"

I have built many custom bikes in my life. Have had some in shows and even taken home trophies. Yep, I know I have some talent. But never before has anyone compared me to an artist. But really, that is what those of us who customise, build projects and modify are.

And when your own son says that it means so much more then coming from anyone else!

and you can have an even bigger smile on your face when in a few years you're the one watching him build and paint his own bikes, knowing that you inspired him.

good work, hope the bike comes along nicely.

Yep. He has that cuteness thing going. And knows how to use it. Got him out of trouble many times.

This morning he was in my bed at 8am asking me when I would get up so we could start on the bike again so he can have a ride. But that is good. Tapping away on the keayboard with 2 fingers is not gonna get her on the road.
