View Full Version : MNZ/Club/Committee bashing: STOP IT!

Guys, I've got to say, this shit's gone on long enough, it's going nowhere.
Currently, there are eight threads running, bagging different MNZ officials, MNZ itself, Clubs and various volunteers. Only one of these threads is objective and/or has a name signed to it. It needs to stop. Quite simply, it's completely pointless and will gain nothing.
Let me explain.
If you are doing a job, paid or unpaid, and somebody completely anonymous makes a complaint or comment, how seriously are you going to take it? I know a lot of KB contributers (myself included) think they are well known. However, from a non contrbuters point of view, we are largely "no bodies". Who the hell is going to take the suggestion of a guy named White trash or Cow poos seriously?
If you have a suggestion or concern it should be presented directly to those concerned, without emotion and signed with contact details.
KB is a great discussion medium, it will not change the world. Despite who may or may not read it.
I'm quite prepared to facilitate a meeting. Only real people may attend and as a group of racers, let's put our concerns and ideas on paper for presentation to the correct recipiant. Obviously, I can't be everywhere at once, so if people think it's a good idea, the first meeting will be in Auckland.
What say you?
Edit: Signed, Jimmy Mair.

Exactly mate, and that's why your posts will always carry more weight than mine, Eddys, Sloans or anyone elses. Even riders of the caliber of Craig or Nick Cole don't sign on under their own names and this has it's equal merits but those that do use an alias can't expect their posts to be taken seriously.

I don't think that they cannot be taken seriously, but this is a SERIOUS issue and I think we all agree on that. But it would be nice if everyone did show themselves on this issue in particular. Eddys, Sloans, Craigs, yours and mine are of equal importance, no less, no more, but on this I think we really owe it to those who are being villified. It is just a way of saying " hi guys, its me and this is my honest opinnion" Like i said elsewhere, Paul, Sandrea and all the office staff have feelings too! Lets just stop talking behind their backs and say what we think in front of them. For want of a better term, lets "man-up!"

Is it not true that a good point has merit in its own rite , even without an assigned name of the author ???
I agree with this threads point though.
If i have anything to say i like people to know its me saying it , just ask both of my friends.

ive agreed with you on another site re having Paul and Sandra answer questions , however as i said on that thread we have a situation where like it or not if you offer an opposing view to what is politely called the purple circle you get vilified.
if the office was acting in a professional and open manner , and if we could get e-mails and questions answered in the same 3 months we asked them i think it would go along way to reassuring members, obviously there are those that are happy but to worrying a percentage of members at both MX and other disciplines are not.
We need a thorough review of all aspects of our sport done by a truly impartial body , this is the only way we are going to move forward, nothong iv said on this site hasnt been expressed to the Board and employees and not one of my concerns has been treated with anything approaching respect,so this public forum is the only avenue i have to stimulate conversation and get people thinking about how we move forward
I learned today the Marlborough Club has been threatened with suspension ,this is ludicrous,
16 days left to vote and one of our biggest clubs is facing having all its members disenfranchised again,
Bay of Plenty has operated very well outside MNZ ,do we want to lose another club.
Why isnt the office and Board looking to mediate its way thru this after all its only 250 at the tribunal now or call in an impartial person . think outside the square and resolve an issue
Sadly i feel another witch hunt is in the air and the agm will quiver with emotion and much hand ringing ,this is why we want change,so untill the new President and Board are announced i will be sticking to a nom de plume ,should there be a change of President i promise to be first on the site with my name

Very well said Jimmy,
If people entering this or any other forum want to promote somebody for a position within MNZ thats fine,But climbing in and rubbishing the current members is just pathetic and destructive. It appears too me there are a number of misinformed and underqualified experts getting on this forum recently and bagging anything that doesnt fit with theyre perspective without really having any clue of other peoples ideas other than what theyve been told and have taken as gospel cause it suits them. Also regarding your ideas for a meeting,I attended at my own cost,A similar meeting arranged for Teretonga in 2004 which Budda also took part in,At the time I like you now was not a competitor but thought it was a worthy cause. The resulting outcome of this meeting was that 2 of the people who attended took the relevant information away and claimed too be getting it sorted out for us too review before presenting it to MNZ,That was 5 years ago now and to the best of my knowledge they still havent finished.

Great Idea WT and if I'm not otherwise already occupied I will be there with bells on bro! HOWEVER...I have to slightly disagree with what you say about not being taken seriously if you are anonymous. Surely having oneself unknown is crucial to being able to get a true 'snapshot' of what is happening in any marketplace...that’s why voting is anonymous is it not? People tend to freely express themselves when they have the secrecy of being unknown. You will always get the slagging personal attacks but that’s life...if it’s one out of 20 it’s fair to say that’s not the average opinion...however if 19 out of 20 are saying similar things that’s worthwhile information.

Trashy in essence I agree with you. Where I disagree is that although there is a lot of drivvel spoken occasionally a bloody great idea comes out of the darkness.
As an example I think that AMCC are looking at ways to upgrade their website.

There are some great ideas here. I am a knowbody as far as racing is concerned, I have a licence I race but I know very few of you or the pecking order (who has been around along time, knows whos who and what to do) etc. I have however picked up from this site that people like Red from triple r racing and others of his elke deserve respect. What I'm trying to convey is we need a riders association if we are serious as a group for our voice to be heard, and a spokes person that commands respect from organisations like MNZ. If a person could be found that would do it unpaid for a start would be even better but as a group we would need to join and financially contribute yearly to help with travel etc.

Outstanding post Ken.
Why isn't there a "Riders association" or at least a representative who constantly liaises with MNZ, gathers oppinion on proposals and acts as a go between? So simple.
Tony.OK
28th April 2009, 09:33
Call me simple, but isn't that what the road race comissioner is supposed to do? Or is that position not far enough removed from MNZ to be a true racers advocate?

Shaun, I am getting a very strong feeling of "Fuck I have been here before"
Over the last 30 years the subject of a rider's representative has come up maybe ten times, each time everyone talks heaps but nothing happens.
The only group that has been successful at this, is the SIDECAR boys and they have their problems.
If you are truely interested in doing something, could I suggest you contact someone from the CAR group "The NZ Racing Drivers Club". They went down this road a few years back and formed a club with sections for each racing class of the time (Formula V, Formula Ford etc).
GOOD LUCK YOU WILL NEED IT

Perhaps LG or Suzuki or Brother are prepared to fund it? You prepared to have that conversation with LG or Brother?
I dont see it happening that way mate, it has to come from the racers themselves. But not sure how or where to even start. Maybe after the voting is over we can approach MNZ and get their support?
Fuck who am I kidding.

28th April 2009, 13:03
I was thinking of a more democratic approach ie developing regional support then gathering a national group then moving from there. I am sure Shaun is more than capable but so are others. I have sent some emails so I'll wait to see where this will go. My vision is to have a group that MNZ would work with not against.

I think the riders would realisticaly have to nominate some candidates and then a vote on a rep.
