I just seen the first race, fook me, Ben Spies on Haga last lap!
I can't beleive no one has posted about it yet?

Yep that progression on the last few laps had me on the edge of my seat - amazing! Shame about the second race though

Just caught up on the two SBK races tonight.
Holy crap that was some good racing.
Looks like Spies has taken Haga's spot in more ways than one eh ;)

Haha, yup! I reckon Spies is the guy to beat in any given race but he's not doing himself any favours at the moment. I can see the R1 being the bike to beat with more development through the season. All Spies had to do in the first half of the season was stay within cooee of Haga, who was always odds on for the title, and he'd be in with a huge shot at a rookie Championship win. Instead the title is looking lost already as Haga can go into cruise mode. It's still one of, if not the most impressive debuts so far, but it could have been the stuff of legend.
For all the focus on Spies I'm enjoying seeing Haslam up there on a bike that really isn't at the same level as the Yamaha/Ducati's.

Yeah I can see it being like Haga chasing for the title now. Having to push hard to win every race meant he kept crashing. Looks like Spies will be under the same pressure now.
Haga seems like a totally different rider out there. In race 1 he just pushed Ben into a mistake where in the past he'd have gone for the pass.

Haslam is kicking arse. He might well come second in the championship on a private bike in his second year (IIRC). Impressive. Wonder how he'd be doing on Ben's bike eh...
