Hi all,
I've been on email with the guys at roadsafe and they've offered us a group discount on their advanced course if we can get a group of 10 together.
Usual price: $190 each
For a group of 10: $150 each
Available dates: 7 June
It's a full day course, have a look at their website for what the course includes: http://www.roadsafe.co.nz/courselist/courselist.htm
I've been to one of the courses and it was excellent! So thoroughly recommend it for anyone...

Sounds like a good idea. I'm in. Whichever day.
Dave
Edit: probably. I'd be keen on a "things that intermediate bikers to do kill themselves and how not to do them" kinda thing. As much as anything I could probably do to practice braking.

I'll run it for $120 per head.
Also, James, you'll need to bring a running bike.

What are the prerequisites for doing advanced course. I could be interested in doing June one providing I got a bike by then. Returning rider.

Nope... that's defensive driving, different course. This one won't take any time off your restricted, sorry...

Cool, my ass can ride at more than 70kph.... damn tho I live in the wrong part of the island to attend.
But is vastly more useful.
Why don't these kind of courses get recognition for bike licensing? Balu did the defensive driving thingy when he applied for his exemption way back and said it was a complete and utter waste of money and time. He'd have much rather done something like this. Can the powers that be be petitioned for a move towards this (or am I whistling an old old tune which has been tried unsuccessfully before?)

Can the powers that be be petitioned for a move towards this (or am I whistling an old old tune which has been tried unsuccessfully before?)Yeah I did the DDC too. As well as it being expensive and useless, it was horrificly boring and demoralising. The worst part was the "drive" at the end where I was lectured in an annoyed fashion about every little thing.
The bottom line is, there's little or no point trying to change the system. Every agency that suggests for a second that your or my input is valuable is going to revert to its own preconceived ideas once they have finished their "public consultation."
The only way to influence the government is civil disobedience when they get it vastly wrong. "No, I won't do that."

6 expressions of interest to date... still not enough for the discount...
Anymore Wellingtonians keen?
James Deuce
15th May 2009, 14:16
Nah, they're all perfect mate.
Some them don't ride in Winter either.
I'm still keen, even for a full price go. You other 5 people (God, theres bloody near 60 bikes on top of the hill at any given time on a sunny weekend - man up you lot!) still keen?
I will submit a write up on the experience to Mr Big Dave, so there will be a very good chance of you will get a photo on the KR Website, and if I do a good enough job, it might go in the printed article.
These courses are always fun, and you always learn something new and useful.

Thanks very much for trying mate... I was contributing two. Did you try for the discount anyway with the smaller numbers? Do you want me to try the Ulysses group too? How many do you have confirmed?

Cheers doug... I have 7 on the list, and can imagine the cost being prohibitive... also it's abit close to the date now, I think...
No worries, people can still do the course, just without the discount... thought I'd try to see if we could get it, that's all. All good mate!

Thanks for trying Bend-it.
No just busy. - both weekends offered unfortunately.
Given the weather recently I'm sure most would prefer better for a course like this. One could argue a shit awful day might even be better, but if I'm putting new skills to practice, I would like to see what I'm doing.

No, they said minimum of 8, and then it was $10 off per person or something... not really worth the hassle as the law with group events with enough people is that someone WILL have something come up and not be able to make it...
No worries, we can try again when the weather fines up... Of you can email them directly and still go ahead with it if you want...
