Oops. Look after your local bike shop. You might need them.

If it was in receivership there is a possiblity that the receiver will keep the company trading. But if it's making a loss by trading, the receiver is quite likely to decide this will only make matters worse - so the doors are closed.
Bay City is in Liquidation, which means that is it, company will be wound up, with the assets sold, debts recovered and creditors paid some or all of what they are owed.

It would be a mint time to buy a bike off them, probably for both parties.
Ah! Here, treat yourself (http://baycitymotorcycles.motorcycletrader.co.nz/ItemDetail.aspx?N=0&item=28890) and help them out too. I've ridden one of these and it was great.

I'm not hearing good things through the grapevine so I'd be a bit sceptical about spending any money there.

Just as long as the receivers can milk it dry.

Just as long as the receivers can milk it dry.
And if they truely do their jobs well, that milking will include their staff.
Still it's a shame to hear of another small business going to the wall.

This truly sad news and my thoughts go out to all those involve in this ho-rd situation. I Guess it's just a sign of the times. Motorcycling falls into the category of luxury items that end up being the first to be done without. Baycity is a expensive toy shop brand wise and that's what made them baycity. unfortunately this will not be the only shop to go and with out compation we the consumers are :buggerd:

I say "previous owner" because I went for a wander down there, only to find the place closed up tight. Hmm, wasted trip.. and then someone comes out of the locked door! "Closed today - stocktaking, but open again on monday - new owners." By the way this guy was talking I'd say these new guys will make a proper attempt at it.
There were only a few bikes there at the time, and nothing that interested me.

Well - if you were willing to say that he actually is a thief and can back it up. Then no it isn't.
If you cannot actually prove he is a thief - then yes it is and you shouldn't say it.
easy really.

Gee DB - red repped for that comment? It was a fair answer to your question.
So what did the previous owner do to deserve to be called a thief on a public forum?

I went in there the other day to see if they had the MV diag tool and was told to come back next month (being this month now), and that their would be new owners....
Silly question. Is this the dealership out near the airport?

Near the Airport- That could be Stada, MotoGB or BayHonda.
BayCity are Yamaha and Triumph and are on Cameron road in the City.
DMNTed works there.

Far to strong a word STEVE!
Andy, is a bloody good bloke, and does NOT deserve shit like that said about him on a public forum- he has obviously had some trouble and made some mistakes, but DOES NOT deserve to be clled a LIAR or a THIEF
Andrew and Julie are both personell friends, WHO have HELPED so many people with racing and rode bikes
WOULD you please EDIT and REMOVE your THIEF wording from your POST please

Well I've dealt with Bay City Motorcycles for a couple of years now were always a pleasure to deal with. I'd be interested to know why anyone thinks they are crooks? How so?
I'll miss Bay City they reminded me a lot of the garage in my home town good personal service trustworthy staff and the guys knew what they were doing.
Does anyone know what happened to some of the staff like Nathan? They were great guys and would happily service my bike at the next place they end up working for.

I'd be interested to know why anyone thinks they are crooks? How so? Go in there and ask them. You might as well hear the story from the horses mouth - hearsay and opinion on a public Internet forum counts for nothing.

Seriously, if anyone needs to know, go and ask at the shop and get ALL the facts, not just words on the internet. I doubt the knockers here DO need to know though - I bet they just want to be disagreeable on principle, as they do.
