YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR HAT OFF TO THEM , WHEN IT COMES TO MC RACING THEIR RIGHT UP THERE, NZ HAD GOOD RIDERS UP THERE FOR A WHILE CRAFAR AND SLIGHT. BUT WE NO LONGER SEEM TO BE PRODUCING THE GOOD RIDERS WE ONCE DID, I KNOW ANSTIE AND HARRIS DO OK , BUT PER CAPITA WE WERE ONCE AS GOOD AS AUSSIES.WHATS HAPPENED?
ONE OF MY PROUDEST MOMENTS I WAS WORKING IN MELBOURNE I WAS AT A PUB WATCHING THE 500GP , IT WAS AT DONNINGTON I THINK 1998 AND EVERYONE WAS GIVING ME SHIT ABOUT THE KIWI. CRAFAR WENT ON TO WIN THAT RACE BY 12 SECONDS. ENDED UP THERE WAS ONLY ONE LOUD GUY LEFT IN THE PUB , ITS A WONDERFULL SITE SEEING AUSSIES CRYING INTO THEIR BEER.ID LIKE TO SE IT AGAIN SOON

Give it time mate maybe NZ just had a lull. Just wait till guys like Motoracer and others on here get up to that level. Then you'll have bragging rights in Aussie again.:niceone:

Ben Townley? Know him? World MX2 Champ?

What about Stephan Merriman? Wasn't he the world enduro champ in recent years?

Also Josh Coppins, at the top in MX1, competing against the worlds best

And Daryl Hurley in the AMA MX and SX

NZ still doing fairly well

dunno bout the road racing up and comers, but the 13yo from Palmerston North i saw last night at the crusty demons show was pretty damned impressive, he was putting some of the bigger boys to shame.

Karl Morgan's done well against a class field in the 600s this year even after a horror crash last year, and has a full year of monthly visits to Aussie to sharpen up even more. Then there's Hayden Fitsgerald. Those are only two that I know of but I'm expecting to see those names up in lights.

Its not so much how fast you are these days, but where youre from and how much $$$ can you bring into the team. It'll be a long long time before any kiwi gets the chance to strut their stuff on the world stage on tarmac, i'm afraid.

Got to agree with that. Read Aaron Slights book "you don't know the half of it". What he say's makes sense.
