Isn't it shinaray who are in the world mx , a few dnf last year and mid to last usually but remember there are a quite a few bike makers in china and they are learning fast about quality..... My mates there now in a foundry trying to teach them quality control ... Some weeks he swears blind they are wired wrong

There is a snippet about a new Aussie designed, made in china 450 in the latest ADB mag. Rumour has it that cheese has been secretly employed as a design consultant on the fuel system, hence all the trips to china. Don't quote me though.

The other week we were parked at the Waimak unloading our bikes when the people we were parked next to returned from their ride. They were both on almost new Li Fan trail bikes (another Chinese brand) and they were far from complimentary about their bikes. One of them had just disintegrated its rear wheel bearings on the ride and apparently they'd had heaps of other trouble with them. Kind of like cheap MTBs - look like MTBs but handle terribly and fall apart when taken off road. Avoid like the plague.

Agreed, anyone who writes off Chinese bikes as pieces of crap (which they surely are right now...) has either got a very short memory or is just too young to remember the Japanese motorcycle industry in it's infancy and peoples reactions to those bikes back then.
A more recent pointer to the likely outcome of Chinese bikes are the Korean brands, notably Hyosung which has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years to now be a viable competitor with the established Japanese brands at the lower end of the market.
Right now I certainly wouldn't be forking over hard earned cash for a Chinese bike as they simply aren't up to the expectations of the majority of the NZ public and certainly can't cope with the treatment we give them! But, watch this space - in 5 or 10 years time things could be a whole lot different.
As far as World MX goes, yes Shineray do have a team but they certainly don't use their own bikes - I doubt whether they could complete a lap at race pace on a European MX track! :)
The team were using Honda's with Shineray graphics etc, but I believe they recently changed to Yamaha's. This is confirmed by the pic below of team rider Dennis Verbruggen's bike. You can clearly see the Yamaha branding on the clutch cover, not to mention the distinctive Yamaha alloy frame etc.
The other pics are from the 2006 MXDN in the UK - in these you can clearly see the bikes are Honda CRF's
