Mothers day present

The boys and I were discussing what we could get mum for mothers day at the dinner table. Mum had just got up to clear the table after cooking dinner and was about to do the dishes.

She had mentioned that ironing had become a little harder and the old iron didn't have the same steam it used to. Taking this as a hint, I whispered to the boys about getting her a new iron. They thought that was a good idea.

She's also hinted at having us treat her during the weekend. So we've decided she can choose which day she does the housework. We'll also tell her in advance what dinner we'd like so she doesn't have the stress of deciding on the day.

Glad the kids helped out this year with ideas. Made it a lot easier for me.

A few years ago, we had 5 teenagers at home, plus ourselves. This made for a HUGE amunt of laundry on a daily basis. There was some debate as to what would be a good present for me for Mothers Day. I suggested if they really wanted to do something nice for me they could do the washing, all of it, pegged out and brought in, folded up and put away.

They did! I sat and watched all the washing being done, I did not have to lift a finger. Best present I have ever had for Mothers Day!

Mrs B has made it very clear over the years that if I ever present her with a iron for Mothers Day, Birthday, Xmas etc then I can expect to have a permanent imprint of it's hot base on my forehead........

Something about not actually enjoying ironing - it's a chore not a interest.

She got a sore back, so I bought her a chainsaw and pneumatic splitter instead.

We got her a vacuum cleaner for last year and she was cross. She said "if you ever, ever get a present like that again!....", so that's why we thought of an iron.

I bought my husband an iron once! He irons, I don't, so I thought at least he'd have something good to use!

I'm the odd one out, I love kitchen (note, kitchen, not laundry) appliances and gadgets and would be rapt to get stuff like that!

Unfortunately the cats tend not to have much pocket money left by the time Mother's Day rolls around so I usually get chocolates, a CD or a book!
