Hi guys, today i made the mistake of not having my helmet and jacket right beside me as I checked tire pressures at the petrol station, in the two minutes it took me, somone stole my leather quasimoto jacket and schuberth helmet.
I know there is not much chance, but if you could keep an eye out for any black leather womans cut quasimoto jackets on trademe etc, and any schuberth black flip front (C2 i think) helmets, that would be great. Ad get in touch with me via PM or text (0274775722) if you see anything, that would be fantastic!
That really is a great way to ruin a sunday, but particualrly a ride... but it wasn't too bad, we still went (as i borrowed a helmet from rie who was great enough to leave uni and bail me out!, and also borrowed jacket from glen.. thanks so much guys!)

Thanks for the phone call about it, we where out riding our mountain bikes, but email the details to quasimoto@ihug.co.nz
We will process the insurance details quickly, if you need a loaner let us know to.
Lastly we have had about 6 claims so far this year for stolen gear so be careful people !

Yeah, i was sitting there for over an hour so figured i may as well see if i can get a few things sorted... I will send off the details now!
It really stinks, that it happens.. cause i doubt they even thought about the fact that I was gonna be stranded!

Were there any surveillance cameras at the servo pointing around the vicinity of where the alleged offence has taken place?

People often snatch bags out of cars when people are putting air in the tyres so its sadly no surprise some little bastard did this.

have they got cameras over the area you left your gear?
... but probably not helmet... ill see)
Recommend that you Google the brand and model and post a pic that way ;)

Now ya wouldn't get that in the South Island
I am always weary of letting my gear get out of sight range when stopped at pubs, bars, stripjoints, whorehouses, prisons, .....oh and servos! ;)
sorry to hear that Trace, karma will sort the prick :bash:

Yeah... unfortunatley it was below and to right of where camers were (so no chance of getting a shot, because they only aim at the pumps to get rego numbers)
Ok... if anyone has any decent shots of my jacket and helmet.. please post
As the following two shots are terrible and not full shots.. but best i have at a quick glance (i have shots of my bike and scenary... not me!)
Oh.. and the only detail that is different from a brought/worn in jacket.. the material puller on the main zip is pulled/stretched - unfortunately i hadn't done anythign to it yet to get any real changes so as to define it as mine

ok... here is shot of helmet...
My helmet had a fair few white scratches on it.. but the visor on left side where pull it forward to let air in has road scuff... but obviously its a fairly non-distinct helmet.. but its an expensive one, so hopefully they will try sell it real cheap and can find it cause they don't know what they are talking about

Helmet & jacket is not easy to hide quickly, they could have put into their car at servo - worth reviewing their footage, don't forget to ring the cops :Police:

Where did the theft happen? Tried getting hold of the video surveillance footage?
GSXR Trace
3rd May 2009, 20:59
It happened at Shell westgate
Thanks for suggestion guys but tried getting footage for any link but they said not much chance of it getting on it.. and id say they stopped by it as they were driving out and picked it up.. so wouldn't be on camera anyway.
I rung cops immediately, but they pretty much said would be nothing they could do since i saw nothing, and i had asked around and no one else saw anything and no camera footage... but will got to station tomorrow to make statement.
Yeah so i may be out of commission for a few months till I can get together enough cash to get some new gear... but will use my old gears in the mean time (that hopefully mum and dad can bring up from the naki this weekend)

Damn that blows.
I always leave my helmet on the seat whenever I go in to pay for petrol. I'm learning from this, helmet goes inside with me from now on.

Best of luck Trac and it'd be nice to think the pricks will be caught. Perhaps not with yours, but maybe the next thing they flog.:bash:

Man, that really stinks! Cruddy thieves leaving you stranded; I really hate the scum who steal other people's belongings.
I have often wondered whether I was being silly because I always take my helmet with me, and I see many people leave them with their bikes, when stopped for coffee or whatever. After reading what happened to you, Trace, I will carry on keeping my gear close to me.
Best of luck for getting your stuff back ASAP.

Can you please stop typing in caps.
Bummer chick!
What size helmet? Perhaps a member may have a spare in your size, to keep you on the road for the meantime?

So sorry to hear of your loss Trace. It is a shame that the station footage did not at least pick up a suspicious vehicle moving toward your bike. A big station the one at Westgate.....surprised no one saw anything.
Just for info I recently purchased a Caberg flip front helmet and it is awesome. 5 star rating, retractable tinted visor and nice and light. Cost me $425 which is good considering the quality and features. The dealer lives in Glen Eden and is very obliging. If you would like to view them PM me (with your email as I have too few posts to PM yet) and I can provide you with his contact details.

I always take my helmet in with me while I pay.
If you must leave your helmet with the bike for some reason, you're best not to leave it on the seat! It's too easy for someone to bump it off and a drop from the seat onto concrete could be enough to 'write off' your helmet.
You're much better to put your helmet on the ground tucked in close to the bike. If you're worried about it getting dirty, put your gloves on the ground first and your helmet on top.

So it is a flip face model?
Yes it was the flip face model, exact same as the one i posted a picture of.

haha... Ill get it sorted, and don't expect any form of token from people, the main reason for this thread was to have people keep an eye out for them!

Thanks for offer, but Ill get my old helmet up from the naki, although its a little big, it will do. And I wouldn't even be able to say which size my helmet was... never thought to take note, so will have to have some fun trying on helmets again. Any suggestions of great helmets out there?

I wouldn't say that they would be sold on Tardme in my opinion. Unless they are dumb, then again they are dumb enough to steal so who knows.:argh:
T&E isn't a bad idea but from experience (everyone knows one dodgy person aye) most things would go to someone they know, meet at the pub, workmate etc etc. :angry2:
Still a pain in the arse. But if it is any consolation, although i'm sure it's not i am not the first person in this thread to say i have learnt from your unfortunate incident (i won't call it a mistake because it's really not your fault) and won't be taking any chances. Even with my shitty gear :bash:
Still hope you get it back and we can have a lynch mob of KB'ers sent round

thanks for that, but i doubt it will ever get that far... as i doubt to ever see them again! But figured there was no harm in posting this thread in the event that by some miracle someone saw this and then saw my gear!
